Damn card

Hey,

Well for the past few months I've been having a battle between PCmedics and myself over my Sager (8890). Continuously, Farcry freezes then crashes, BF2 artifacts and then crashes, and HL2 crashes like no other . PCmedics installed F.E.A.R. and it runs, but it demands almost no power to run. Back to my question, I believe its hardware, as I get the same results + or - stability with different drivers, even Omegas along with the fact my desktop image(s) are blocky even when using a standard windows desktop. I get scores around 1100 with 3dmark05. I'm trying to get this computer to run, and preform like it should, as I need to sell it but don't want to sell a computer with issues. Can anyone help me out with this, advice, praying for me ?

Thanks

Check the pick at the bottom of the thread. http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...=56210&page=14

Is that or something similar the problem? If it is chances are your video card has gone bad. Only fix would be a motherboard replacement.

You could read my problrm thread and it might help some.

Hope it works out for you, I eventualy just broke down and got a new desktop.

Exactly the same problem in both of those threads. Thanks for pointing those out. Well thats no surprise to me that the card is dead, seems to be a going trend I've noticed.

My next problem is convincing PCMedics of this, as the last RMA I did came back and the diagnois was "could not duplicate"....which is complete Bullsh&#. Along with the fact this will be the 3rd RMA for this issue.

I've debated sending a copy of Farcry and HL2, but I keep envisioning that if I send those CDs in, it will be the last time I will ever see them. Any advice on beating the message into PCMedics techs that it indeed is a bad card? Again thanks for the help.

Try Blockland http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=135384

My system has artifacting issues with it as well. It is a free download. You could load it up, check to make sure the problem exists and then send it off and use that as an example. Might also try taking some photos of the screen showing the problem.

You could just go ahead and send in Farcry. I think you can buy a copy for 20 bucks if it doesn't come back and if it gets them to fix it it saves your system... not like you can play Farcry atm anyway.

Did you ever update your BIOS? Go back and take a look at your response.

Yep, I did end up flashing my bios to the updated version, but it did no good. I guess I'll end up parting with Farcry, and pray it comes back. Thanks for all the help, I'm calling today to RMA it, wish me luck.

BTW thanks for BlockLand, it works!
