Hay Guys;

I'm intending to upgrade the HD of Ferrari, I read here and there that HD upgrade is the no. 1 in the list of upgrade, and I can imagine why, what do you suggest? what is the best fastest HD out there for 4005? I still want to keep the 100G or even increase it.

Thanks in Advance.

not worth it, you're gonna spend a lot of money to gain little performance...

I have a 60 gig 7200 RPM drive in mine... I don't see/hear/feel/smell any differences...
the original 100 is in a usb2 ext case...

I'm also thinking of doing a small upgrade to the F4005. I'm not sure if I should just increase the RAM to 2GB PC2700 or PC3200 or get a new 100GB 7200RPM HDD.

Here in the UK the price difference between the two upgrades is around 60 pounds(if you choose PC2700 over the HDD) and 80 pounds(if you choose PC3200 over the HDD).

p.s. If you do buy a new HDD you'll have to buy an external storage to put the old one in(unless of course you are planning to sell it) and that is an additional cost.

I know it's a Mac site but go to Barefeats.com for a great comparison benchmark series of tests of the top 100GB drives. The Hitachi 7200 wins easily, to end the suspense. But whether the song is worth the candle for your needs only you can say.

So do you think that I better get the other 1G ram? it's not song that I'm worried about, my iPod took care of this , my intension is to have a higher response from my ferrari, I usually have eclipse + Dreamweaver + Photoshop + firefox +++ open working in the same time, 2 weeks ago I installed diskeper 10, and after haveing it take care of file arrangment and defragment, there is a noticable response gain, and better performance, so I though maybe 7200

So 7200 or 1 more Gig?

1 more gig

The way you say that you will use the Ferrari 1 more gig should be better than 7200RPM.

Biiiiiiiig difference. 60 GB is an old version of Hitachi drivers. The new ones 7K100 are faster than 7K60. I have one and I can garantee you, the system is far more responsive. Buy the HD and you'll not regret.
Cheers.

If you generally work with one application and lots of data, like large videos get the hard drive. If you usually have lots of applications open and need high performance when switching between them buy the memory.
