cpu fan getting stuck on high! help!!

so randomly yesterday my cpu fan decided to go to ultra speed and stay there!

it kicks in around 55*c, and stays on. the only way i found to stop it is to reboot/starnby/hybernate, or i used i8kfangui to control the cpu fan. i set it to low with the program. then unset the program from controlling the fan and it went back to normal..... for a while. it wen crazy on me again though.

bios A05.

what the heck is going on with this thing? that fan is so freakin loud!

A.05 bios makes the fan stay off.

so the cpu is being cooled passively. once it hits 55 the fan kicks in at ultra speed, but doesnt shut off when it goes below like 45 or something like its suposed to. it stays on permanently. the cpu temp goes to like 29 and stays there with the fan on leaf-blower.

I have the A.05 bios, and my CPU fan is always on, it's not ever off.

Are you sure it's the A05 bios? Try pressing Fn+Z when you are idling and see if your CPU fan turns off. It should turn off. If it doesn't, then you either DONT have A05 or there is something wrong with the fan. BTW, you should be using I9KFANGUI. Be sure to put it into observer mode so it doesn't try to control your fans before doing the Fn+Z.

whoa.. i never knew about fn+z.. as soon as i hit it my fan kicked in.

i guess the cpu fan was set funny.. never turned on and the cpu temp was like 66*!!

but its not shutting off now.. its on ultra speed constant.

fn+z again.. tuned it off.., opened i9kfangui, it kicked the fan in,,, put it in observer mode and it set the fan to low... hit fn+z and it turned the fan off. fn+z isnt doing anything now lol

any other nifty fn key combos i should know?

editnce i fn+z once, doing it again does nothing and BOTH fans stay off and temps just keep going up...........

edit2: ok so i was watching the temp.. its hit 60* with the fans off, then the fans both kicked into ultra speed. the gpu fan turned itself off after almost no time, but the cpu fan is stuck on full blast. cpu temp is at 32*, still over 5000pm on the cpu fan...

That's strange. It does seem like you have the A05 bios, but the reason your fans are going to full blast is because your CPU is definitely overheating. I would take your laptop apart, clean the heatsink base and cpu core, and apply a good layer of Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste to see if that helps with the temperatures. I am using i9kfangui and I set a temperature profile so that the CPU stays on LOW (2500rpm) almost all the time. BTW, you say 5000rpm...you mean 4000rpm right? Our fans don't go that high..hehe

I get the same freaky fan behaviour lately after everything was fine for weeks and I didn't do anything.

The fan either comes on and stays on, or doesn't come on when it should.
I open I9KFANGUI and uncheck the temp control enable box and that puts the fan where it's supposed to be. Then re-check it, and all is fine.

I still use 2.2.1.03b, can't find the latest one.

Just did this, and the fan spooled down to what I guess is minimum speed, but it's definitely still going.

I've been having similar problems as well... Right now my video card temperature is 73(no OC) and hdd is 68... and I'm running nothing.. The fans are on high literally all the time. Sometimes the fans turn off for no reason and the temperatures go as high as 85...

The laptop has had this problem for a few months now,and I can't figure out what the hell the problem is...

Here's a link to the main page,http://www.mckenziedev.com/index.php, 2.3 external beta is the latest I think.

Is the 'Samurize' plug in needed?

I had IKFanGUI before but I removed it cos it makes no sense. Why if I click the 'enable temperature control box' a random number of times does it turn my fans off?
