Roll Call, how many flight simmers out there?

Thread Starter
I love flight sim wit all my addons with wy Dell I9300.
I use MS Flight sim 2004, I also use xPlane 8 both are not bad as far as FlightSims go.

I do have a private pilots license so nothing beats the real thing.

Then again, I also have a part time job in which I get to do this.

Flying the Gulfstream V Simulator

We have about 9 simulators total that link is from when I had some friends come in to check it out one evening.

I WOULD be rocking out with Falcon 4.0 Allied Force on this thing.....but I don't have anywhere on my desk to put my HOTAS Cougar. >.<

FS2004 nut here too. It's the one game where my pin-modded 2.26GHz really throws its weight around.

Lots of addons too - ActiveSky6, FSBuild 2.2, PSS Concorde, PMDG 737NG, LDS 767. Ultimate Traffic and FS Real Time to name a few.

Currently participating in an Around the World in Eighty Days event at www.air-source.us with the Concorde and a whole bunch of other FS nuts. Only 84000nm @ Mach 2.0 to go!

I used to be so proud to be able to fly a 757 and know how to manipulate all the systems by self teaching... Now I fly a real 767 myself and I can't even look at MSFS anymore, thanks aviation for screwing up my favourite game!

The demise of the Jane's sims was a sad thing. A modernized version of Longbow would be great. I started with Gunship on my 386.

I'm not into plane sims. I got my license a few years back but didn't find hobby flying very exciting. I'm addicted to velocity and the sense of speed just isn't there when you're that far off of the ground. I like racing motorcycles a lot more.

Flight Instructor: Look, we're doing 140 knots!

Me: I went faster than that several times on my way to the airport today.

Yea, if I owned a prop plane, it wouldn't be because I want to get anywhere fast...

After 660 knots at 300 feet (Mach 1.15 in a B-1B), EVERYTHING else is SLOW...

I bought F-22 but it always crashed my computer... that was like 5 years ago lol

I'm a huge Flight sim 2004 fan. Play it all the time. I also have my real private pilots license with multi-engine rating and currently working on instrument. Glad to do it here at Embry-Riddle. As for FS add-ons, I have only PMDG products. I have the 1900D, 1900C, 737NG series, and 747. All of them are great!!

Love combat simulators. If you all have PS2's I highly urge the Ace Combat series such as Ace Combat 4 and 5.
This is off topic but I got to see five F-22 yesterday up close and personal. That thing is so kool.
Oh and ya, I forgot to say I also got to try out the F-15 flight sims the Air Force uses. That thing is kick ass.

I do reviews on ad-ons at http://www.reheat.org/news.php

We are a military flight sim site. Reviews are on the right.

I am also working towards my PPL

i love all the iterations of MSFS .. ha, used to do cross country flights on the 286.. OLDSCHOOL!

ive got 2004 now, but unfortunately, i have no way of hooking up my old thrustmaster rudder peddles or throttle, and its just not the same without them =-(

I played Jane's Longbow and MSFS with my dad, who's a retired USN pilot/navigator, way back when...Haven't played them for years though. The closest thing I have now is bombing runs in BF2.

It's getting to be too late for me (28 is the oldest you can be to apply to the pilot's program), but were I to join up, I would've wanted to fly Lancers. Is the eyesight requirement for them the same as fighters?

I'm almost positive it is. And given your location, I'm sure you're flying with the 9th BW. Preferable to ID, SD, or the storms in KS, I suppose.

Actually, when I flew 'Bones' (almost no one calls them Lancers), I flew in the 7th Wing, 9th Bomb Squadron. But, that was 10 years ago...right location, wrong time. The eyesight requirements for the USAF are not aircraft specific. And it changes based on needs of the USAF. Right now, we have a little too many personnel, so requirements are high (thin out the application pool). The 'Bone' has changed a lot since I flew it...lots of new capabilities...lots of deployments.
