Logitech v400 available

Thread Starter
I just got an email from Logitech letting me know that the v400 notebook mouse is for sale now. It's about time, I think they last said it was going to be available back in November. For anyone that's not seen/heard of it, it's a wireless (RF) notebook mouse that has back/forward buttons, tilt scroll wheel and a "rugged design". The reciever also stores away in the mouse, like the v500. Logitech's price - $49.99, so it'll probably be cheaper at other places in the next few weeks.

Man, I wonder how long it will be before it's in stores. I think I might pick one of these up. Thanks for the heads-up!

I liked the look as well, but the user reviews for it in Europe were not very good so I decided against it.

I won (first thing I've EVER won) a Logitech mouse/keyboard and remote from Computer America week before last and I am VERY impressed with Logitech's quality. The tilt feature is quite handy. I can only imagine how cool it would be to have the extra buttons on there too! Logitech's software is compatible with XP and you can assign several different "jobs" for the center wheel to do. The software for the Kensington mouse that I got from Dell was NOT compatible with my m140. That was a shocker! From Dell!

I'm in the market for a cool notebook mouse as well. This v400 looks neat, but I was also eyeing up the v270 .

It'd be nice to have a mouse that works with the bluetooth in my Inspiron 6000, so I don't have to bother using up a USB port to plug in an adaptor. I don't know how versatile the optical sensor is in the v270... the v400 looks like it should work on almost anything, but I won't believe it until I see it. I think logitech also claimed that with the mx series mice, but real-world performance fell somewhat short of such claims.

Has anyone here played with a v270? Does a bluetooth mouse perform as nicely as logitech's own wireless technology?

I have the V200 version (Wireless) of the V270 mouse. It's a super mouse.
Also, CompUSA has the V270 on sale this week ---

DOH. I had my V500 painted to match my laptop by Smooth Creations . . .If I had only waited. Nice find tho!!!! You Dell peeps are really industrious at finding uber kewl stuff.

Your modded V500 looks awesome!!!

Wow... that's some sexy computer gear you've got there DarthBeavis... What does it cost to have painting like that done?

I'd almost want to do up my inspiron 6000 like that, but to me, it doesn't seem worth spending hundreds of dollars on painting something that's just gonna be out of date in a year anyways

Sighhhh

Oh when will they make a trackball bluetooth mouse.
I'd say the advantages of wireless aren't quite as readily apparent for a trackball as they would be for a mouse... so I wouldn't hold my breath, but I'm sure that a time will soon come when virtually everything will be bluetooth.

I wish they'd make a bluetooth v500

I don't like bluetooth for a mouse or keyboard (I have a set). They are way to slow.

Smooth will do a laptop for probably 200-300. Call and ask for Chris at Smooth and tell him DarthBeavis sent you. YOu will get great treatment (well, you would anyways cause they rawk). And the cool think is they love us all equally be you a Dell, Alienware, Hyper, or whatever owner. That makes sense since we are all part of one big dysfunctional family.

looks pretty cool. never did like the v500 too much, but the v400 i like.

I like my v610, most notebook mice are too small for me. I got my v610 on sale too, ended up being like $30 after rebate. I love it so far! The only thing I wish it did was store the usb adapter in the mouse. Instead i have a little pouch i put it in to keep it from scratching the mouse in my laptop bag(did that the first time I put them in together, then started using the pouch).

What are the advantages of the v500 over the v200? I've heard that the touchpad scrollwheel isn't quite as nice as a real scrollwheel, although it sounds neat on a conceptual level.

I like bluetooth mouse but hate bluetooth wakeup lag. I hate RF USB receiver on my USB port. I end up using touchpad only, no mouse.
