I have a Dell Inspiron5150 which has an inverter burnt out, I know this because I can see a faint image when light is shined on it.

This toshiba, however, its a special case. On boot I can barely see the toshiba logo, and after that, its hard to see anything at all. I was wondering, if there was anyway to check if its the inverter/backlight and who I should trust in repairing it. I could possibly do it myself, but I neither have the time nor nerves to open the LCD up.

Also, the back of the display heats up tremendously at a certain portion of the LCD.
