2GHZ Celeron M vs 1.73 Pentium M (both fsb533), which one?

People, I'm between these two processors for the same laptop. I've read that Celeron M is the same than P-M except for half L2 cache and not as great battery management when in idle (the latter I don't mind!).

Well, as usual, let me know your opinions

Thanks!

Damn! New technology celeron m's only go up to 1.7ghz! (Please confirm me that!) So the guy that told me he has a z71v with a celeron m 2ghz was just speaking nonsense i guess...

I think there are Celeron M's that do have 2.0+ GHz!

I guess he pinmodded a celeron to run at 2ghz (as all celeron-ms I know run with 400 fsb, not 533).

But still I would say p-m - even if you don't mind, because of the powersaving functions, cause they also keep the laptop at lower temps and by that normally less noise.

Well, at least at the stock settings, I can definitively say that the Celeron M doesn't go to 2GHz, or have a 533 FSB.

Uh Pentium M is much better then Celeron more horse power, there are 2 2.0 models, one that is 400 bus and one that is 533 bus (I have the 400 bus )

My son has the Cel M and it does not do the power stepping like the Pentium M so a battery does not last as long. ( intel is evil in this I think since all they did was disable the power steps)

Depends. It sounds like someone's trying to unload a used laptop on you? If you don't mind the lack of battery life and if the Celeron M isn't overheating in the laptop (pin modded it sounds like, as you said), it'll definitely be faster than a 1.73GHz P-M.

The safer bet would be the P-M as everyone's suggesting, however the Celeron M would be faster in absolute terms.

Nobody has mentioned the different L2 caches either.

Cause it makes almost no difference in almost all available applications.
