You need to set the brightness so the black is black.
Then set the gamma.
There is a gamma for all red, green, blue.
And there is gamma for each color as well.
After you set the brightness.
Fiddle with the separate colors. Start with red, then green then blue.
set them all to a gamma of 1.4.
Red gamma; 1.4
Green gamma; 1.4
Blue gamma; 1.4
Put a dvd movie in the pc. One where you can see a person's skin color.
Now lower the red gamma, so the face isn't too red.
Now set the green gamma so it's not too dark.
Now try lowering the blue gamma so it looks natural.
Now, move the contrast up. Just one tenth in each color.
Adjust so the screen isn't too dark, but not so bright you get banding (blocky snow in dark screens.)
Now. If you have a saturation button, set the saturation to add a bit of vividness to the skin color. Brighten it up a bit like so.
