I just got my MS 1013, built it, love how it works and looks, but I am having really dumb problems with getting the integrated DVD-ROM drive to work.
Basically, it wont get detected in BIOS for some reason most of the time. So, I have to hard turn off the computer, turn off quick boot, restart, unplug, and just plain fiddle with it with the right combo of things for it to work. Annoying as heck
I managed to get windows installed, but then when I tried to install linux (which overwrites the MBR so it can install grub) I had to exit out and restart, and since grub didnt get installed I cant boot on anything.
So, my CD ROM drive is sporadically working, have no idea why. Everything else works just fine. I can eject and do stuff with the drive, its powered and everything, its just the PC wont detect it.
Could my hard drive be interfering with the IDE interface of it...or what. Basically, in BIOS, I can see it when it detects either device. It goes....Detecting pri, then it will skip the detecting sec (this goes really fast, not sure exactly what it says) But I know if it says detecting sec it got the CD ROM drive and it will show up in BIOS.
Should I try updating the BIOS via flash drive or what.
