BF2 and NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400 Go

I downloaded the Battlefield 2 demo (thinking about buying- yeah I know its a little late, but leave me alone). I installed it but it won't load the maps. I can go into the game and change all the options and create new profiles and such, but when I click "start singleplayer" it just sits there. I've tried a few times but each time its the same story: load singleplayer and it doesn't do anything. I don't even get a load progress bar (I think I'm supposed to). Is there something wrong with the downloaded demo, or is it my Quadro card? Its got 256Mb of DDR RAM so I just can't figure this out. I'd really appreciate anyone with the Quadro card running BF2 to help me out, but other comments are of course welcome. Thanks in advance guys.

im not sure if bf2 supports the quadro line, but it should work. i wouldnt reccomend it. the 7800gtx is a way better card, and if you are that series about cad and video editing and what not, then get a dedicated workstation. you HAVE to get a 7800gtx, or wait a bit and up grade to the next gen part.

Quadro cards are meant for video editing and the like, not for gaming. The hardware on the Quadro line is not designed for gaming.

What is your problem? Does it just crash to desktop. If thats the case it can be fixed with a simple edit.

Well I just have the demo right now. I can launch the game, and add/select profiles. I went to the singleplayer tab and then clicked "start singleplayer". At that time it "greys out" the background and a dialog comes up saying something to the effect "loading map; please wait". Apparantly that is supposed to be there for a few seconds, then a new screen should appear with a progress bar. I left it sit for 4 minutes and it never changed screens. The screen its getting stuck at apparently optimizes the map for your graphic card and optimization settings, so I'm guessing this is the problem. I know the Quadro line is for CAD and stuff, that's why I got it. I'm going to major in mechanical engineering in college in the next few years so I don't have the money to get a seperate computer. The graphics card was the hardest choice in my purchase, but I think I'll be happy with the CAD perfromance since that's what I'll be doing mostly. Anyways, after the first load screen comes up it just sits. Nothing happens. I can't alt-tab out, or get task manager to come up. I've tried it 3 times and every time its been the same thing. I just kinda hangs. I don't think the map is that big, but again it is the DEMO, so maybe that's my problem. I just don't want to spend $$ on a game that won't run on my system. (That's why the demos are released- well that and to make sure you like the game). Anyways I can run COD2 at next to max settings and its fine on this card.... I just figured BF2 wouldn't be a problem and when it turned out to be, I figured I'd ask you all for help.

Hey guy, Just dum down the settings, you should be able to run it no problems, Now I don't know if the demo had any issues, and that could be the reason why you are running into soo many problems, I would advise to download the game again, and change yoru vid settings to low, just to be safe, when you click on single player it take a good bit of time to load, so you have to be very patient. Heck I am running 7700 with the x800 and it take about 10 minutes to load into the game, from a cold boot into the game. Don't be discourage, I have a old desktop that run this game even on a unsupported card, the 9600 pro, its on low res, but it runs just fine. no lag no nothing. its a great game just give it a change.

Alright, thanks. I thought I was giving it enough time, but maybe not. I'll downgrade the settings and set it sit for a good amount of time and see if it works. You're right, it could be the demo as well. I just couldn't figure it out. I mean, the Quadro might not support full settings, but I mean c'mon... not load it? It just didn't seem right to me. thanks again for all your help guys.

Back to Desktop Problems with BF2

Jepp! Crash to Desktop is one of the probs. Another one is, that custom profiles cannot be loaded, if the Homefileset exist on a network drive...

Anotherone: Most of the patches did not run via install... Must be unpacked and applied manual.

More: Lags into the game after playing 20 - 30 minutes (on the only one system, which is able to start the game...

And some more...

But it would be great if you have the right idea to solve the BackToDesktop Problem...

I went out and got the full version a couple weeks ago. It's running fine; i got the patches and stuff for it (no expansion packs yet) and the only complaint I have is that the Quadro will only run it at medium settings. I love the game and the memory leak (known issue) gets to me after several hours, but only happened twice.

Hohohoooo

Okidokie!

BF2 is starting with the change from 60 to 61 frequency. Now it crashes only BTD when I start multiplaying... Single player is runnig in 1280x1024 High Resolution. But after 15 minutes with some lags. Maybe I must increase some graf switches.

Great for the first time. Thanks for the tip!

Don't forget that everytime you change anything in your video settings, you're gunna have to go through that "Optimizing Shaders" or whatever, and it takes forever to do it. So if for some reason the game isn't showing you that screen (hiding it for some reason), you gotta wait at least 10 mins

Sometimes it happens over here without changing video settings, I think after I patch the game up. The game is kinda buggy.. especially the server search and filters.

Ha, BF2 is running since two days without any problems (except the lags after 60minutes of playing. It's NOT a Temp issue...).

BTD is resolved with editing the video refresh rate to 60 or 61 Hz.

Patch problems until to 1.22 are resolved (full installation without manual work on the patches is now running)

CDKeyCheck resolved the Multiplayer CD Key log-in problem (after some tries over some hours)

Now it is running very well with 1280 x 1024 set everything to high except AA (which is off) and setting of Texturefilters to medium.

Cost only 2 months of troubleshooting and reinstalling ;-) of game, drivers, configs etc...

but, it's a great game!
