Yes, about to graduate and head off to Uni where it'll be even more important to have.

I'm in med school too, but I only bring my computer every once in a while. Mostly it depends on the class, and if they use powerpoint or not. I find it easier to study off paper, though, so I usually don't.

In college, I didn't bring my computer to class.

Hardly ever. Use it on the rare occasion i have to go to the library to do homework insead of in my dorm room, or on occasion in programing class.

The other 99.9% of my time is spent on my desktop.

I only use it between classes when I have time to kill and nothing to do..

4 out of my 5 classes have powerpoint slides. Plus to surf the net.

I use mine every day, in every class. In fact, most days I don't even pick up a pen. I even take all my exams by computer. But then, I'm in law school, where this is practically the de facto norm. Excessive wordiness and a lack of images lends itself to typing.

You know, having done some basic med school courses, I never quite figured out how a laptop factored into the equation; the only place where it made sense for me was Microscopic Anatomy lab sessions with powerpoint slides. The rest was so diagram-heavy, though, that I felt like I learned by marking up the syllabus.

Yea our classes have ppt that we copy and study from, Netters cd I use as an altlas, all my books on pdf ( have you ever lifted the clinical oriented anatomy, wheaters and developing human? WOW it's like 30+ LBS all together verses 5 lbs af computer + ac adapter, which would you choose?) Oh and the netters adds another 7 to 8lbs.

I use mine in class on occasion. Especially if theres a lot of writing to do. Its more comfortable to type a lot of stuff than write it down.

I'm an undergrad btw.

I was a lazy bastard back in the day, so I mostly brought just the syllabus to class, and studied from that and the notes I got from the note-taking service. I didn't even unwrap my Neuroscience textbook; I did after the final simply because I felt guilty. Maybe that's why I was always nestled slightly below the mean on every test.

I guess it makes a lot of sense to use a laptop if all your materials are electronic. My girlfriend is a med student right now, and uses her iBook in class all the time.

I use it, however it wouldn't be a big deal if I have a desktop in the room

I voted no even though I might use once or twice a month in a lab. In my mind the reason you buy a laptop for college is to take it with you when you go home, not for classes unless your a grad student.

I am softmore majoring in computer engineering at UW-Madison.

I find that the computer is a distraction for me in the classroom... It's too tempting to surf the web/chat/play games than to listen to the professor.

I pride myself on the fact that I have enough self control to use my comp for real work.

Unfortunatly some times I do that.

But still I use it mostly for school.

I use mine for notetaking mainly in 4 out of 5 classes. One of my classes on Current International Politics makes heavy use of news web sites from other countries...many people just print out news stories while I can just bring them up on the computer. It makes school environmentally friendly...

Well been here for almost a year, most of it with my Dell 700m! I love this machine small and light, too bad they discontinued it, you can get a M1210 now with better features though!

I made it to Second year in Medschool too ! YEAH!
