PowerDVD and H.264/MPEG-4 playback

has anyone tried playing H.264/MPEG-4 movies in powerDVD successfully?

when i downloaded the MPEG-4 add on pack and i tried an Apple 1080p trailer in powerdvd, the movie played fine although there was NO sound.
I found out the audio was in AAC format so i then downloaded the ACC add on pack and when i tried to open a 1080p apple trailer, nothing happens and powerDVD hanged.
ive reinstalled powerdvd, installed the add ons in different orders, used different display drivers but i can not get the h.264 movies from apple to play correctly with the MPEG-4 and AAC add ons installed together. ive also saved the trailers as MP4 files but there is no difference
this is really frustrating because using the quicktime player, 1080p trailers do not even play smoothly, always 100% cpu useage. however, when i play the trailer in powerDVD with only the MPEG-4 add on installed, CPU useage is around 50%! but there isnt any sound. i reckon the AAC add on is buggy and was just wondering if anyone else has had any success or if there are any solutions.

Did you try VLC palyer?
Codecs are strange things. I usually use ace megacodecs pack 5.9 and divx5.11 and only these two and 99.9% of the movies work. Strangle yesterday I realised that none of my DVDs work although I had any problems before! Had to insatll power DVD and now its working fine. I guess i will stick with that one from now on.

Get it.

Yeah - another vote for VLC. Do you have the latest version of quicktime installed. I found that when I first got Quicktime 7 I couldn't smoothly play back Hi-Def H.264 files, but the latest version fixed that for me.

Quicktime Alternative is less cluttered and doesn't force you to use iTunes either.

One of the best media players out there! Bye bye silly self-downloaded codecs.
