SHOCKingly Surprised

Ever since I got my laptop, which was about a month ago I'm always getting a static shock whenever I leave it then return to it. Especially near the touchpad and on occasion it has even rendered my tochpad useless for a given amount of time. Re-installing the drivers don't help, restarting the laptop also doesn't help. It returns to normal by itself but I fear one of these times it will not. Is there anyway I can prevent myself from shocking the laptop? I know it can't be good for the system.

invest in a humidifier?

Does this happen wherever you're at, or just at home?
Stop wearing wool socks with shag carpet?

Or, salvage a trapoline spring from the neighbour kids an' put it near your sentia so you can just shock that an' then use the computer.

or get one of those wrist bands that eliminate static shock, or a shock obsorbant mat for under your desk.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16899888202 - A whole Tool kit along with an Anti-Static Wrist Band.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16899888207 - The accual strap itself for like 5$US

They make cordless anti static bands, I personally have never see/used one so I do not know how they would apply to your situation.

wrap a wire attached to roach clips around your wrist. don't forget the aluminum foil helmet with special antenna for good reception.

I can sense you always needed to be the center of attention when growing up.

the wire and roach clip idea is actually practical quick cheap homemade solution. It was an Idea. The helmet comment was my atempt at a sense of humor. I didn't mean to offend you. sry, I was trying to make you laugh. I actually never wanted to be the center of attention anytime in my life, but I do like to come on here and help if i can, crack a couple jokes or share neat or funny things I've found. I'm not perfect. sometimes i say things and don't realize what it sounds like from the other end but most of the time I mean no harm.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that too. I usually don't take comments like that to heart. I guess I was just having a bad day, my apologies again for jumping all over you.
