My 5500 is almost here!

After ordering on Feb. 13th and being in phase 3 for a month (backordered parts), I'm finally in phase 9. It went into phase 5 on Wednesday, phase 8 this morning, and just hit phase 9.

I should have my 5500 sometime next week! Yay! This will be my first laptop, though not my first Alienware.

As The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion comes out next week, I'll have the perfect thing to test my new 5500 with. I'll try to post a review late next week.

Awesome rtag, congrats on the system. Mine's coming fedex tomorrow, but I won't tell you when I ordered mine cuz you would be PISSED, lol.

Did you ever get yours, 5500Fan?

I just got an email from FedEx with tracking numbers and Alienware's site has me at phase 10!

Expected delivery date is Thursday!

Yeah, I've had mine since the 18th, it got delivered on Saturday and man do I love it, the only mistake I made was not ordering the 100 gig drive as opposed to my 80 gig, that's ok, I'll make do. Also, did you see, they just started offering the brand new Radeon 256 card on the 5500, lol!!! It's all good, I'm sure this 6600 will be just fine.

Cool, nice to hear you're enjoying it. It's probably best the new card came out after I ordered, as I didn't need to spend more money.

I just checked my tracking data and mine is on the FedEx truck for delivery!

Hello all, am new here and joined at the advice of DukeFrukem. I have been hanging out in Notebookreview for a while but kinda tired of the Alienware negativity there!
Anyway rtag I really want to hear more about your system, I am considering ordering one EXACTLY like that Ram Hard Drive and all so would love to hear your conclusion.
The only reason I am waiting is hoping that AW will come out with a Core Duo soon but it does not look like that will happen

Thanks again for the info so far and hope to see some pics and your review of the 5500

Congrats, rtag. Glad you like it. I'm still delighted with mine.

I'll do a review in a week or two, but for those looking to order: the 160GB 5400 HD is nice - lots of storage and it is very fast. I'll do some time trials against the 80GB 7200 next week, but I do not notice any difference in load times with the 5400.

I could have told you all a new vid card would be out shortly after I ordered my system (happens every time to me ). I would have preferred the ATI x1600, but have to say the 256MB go6600 works just great, so no real disappointment on my part.
