hi guys

was just using my acer 8103 to surf the net bout an hour ago where it just suddenly died on me completely. the thing is absolutely dead. pressed the power button nothing happens i'v sent off an email to acer but i dont expect a reply from them for atleast 10days and from wat i've heard their support isnt very good in UK...

jus wondrin if y'all got any ideas as to why the hell a GBP1200 laptop wuld die all of a sudden n if you got any ideas in the mean time while i wait for acers reply...

thought i'd better explain abit more wats going on to discount sum possibilities.
1) the laptop just died, no warning or shutdown screen, almost as if the power was pulled on it
2) no burning smells or extreme heat. heat was in normal parameters...
3) laptop was plugged in at the time, no battery failure
4) restart attempted with battery, without, DC only both etc.
5) on pressing ON button there is absolutely no sign of life.
- with battery and charger plugged in, battery charging light does not come on

thanks for any help y'all can give me..if any...there wasnt any help on the acer support dealing with UBS (useless brick syndrome).

Well join the crowd mine does it too and me thinks it has to do with the battery. I was told when batteries start to go bad they can screw up your charging/power board. Mine also has a loose backlight connection somewhere the screen flickers in and out. In retrospect I should've bought an IBM
