Why the hell haven't I bought this from the beginning? - Page 2

fidget i have always wondered in your sig is the 7800 ultra a 7800 gtx or is it like a 6800 ultra crossed with a 7800 gtx, sorry for kinda off topic but now back on, yeah the 19 inch is just way to big but the two things i like about hs is that are partnered with smooth and their prices are pretty good

No, I wasn't comparing to the 19". I just liked the 200gb raid 0 7200 rpm for the same price as 120 gb 5400 rpm.

I also liked the accident warranty and the pixel perfect guarentee. If they are boxed tomorrow like they said and ready to ship tuesday I'll just take the hit on the hd. If however they talk delay, then I may cancel. I just won't have the money to upgrade the hd's for a while and it would be nice to max out to start.

Then again, do you think I'll actually notice a difference between seek times on a raid 0, wether or not it's 7200 or 5400 rpm? I mean I have a 200 GB external for movies and music and stuff. Maybe I just won't worry about it. 80 gigs is the difference essentially, and the replacement if my 5 year old nephew decides to use it fot a bathtub tray.

there is a big difference between 7200 and 5400, i think that will be the same in raid, you will see faster loading times with the 7200 and overall improved performance

DB bought a Hypersonic because they were offering the AMD laptop like the Aurora7700 for sale first, and they told him is wasn't a pre-order. They told him it would be in his hands the first week in December. He didn't receive it until mid January I believe and it arrived with a bad video card.

All computer companies do have issues from time to time, but when it comes to promises on delivery and having parts in stock, I wouldn't put much stock in what Hypersonic says...

They have a forum section here, go look through it and decide for yourself if you think the support is better, or if you think the delivery promise carries any weight.

From my experience with AW to date and from what I've read with other people's issues on this site, AW hasn't come through on deivery promises or having parts in stock either. Not to mention their horrible turn around time at the depot. So would you be worse off going with Hypersonic? I don't think so.

Mine came early, and they knew beforehand that not everything was in stock, so when I purchased they had an estimate for over a month.

actually my AW arrived before the estimated ship date. im not talking about it just shipping early, i mean it was on my porch 2 days before the estimated ship date.

this is true, you will see the difference but in raid 0 it wont be really huge for most users.

Well they put be back at Phase 5, so that makes my decision easy. I'm on hold waiting for cancelation. And of course no one is there who can cancel my order. They said they'd call me back, but we've all heard that one before. I'll call back in an hour. They said it takes up to 5 business days once I cancel to get my refund. But I've also read on other boards that this is the usual AW estimate and it can take up to a month. We'll see. I definitely am going to get the run arround on this, another reason not to go with AW.

I can report my experience:

I called and cancelled and the agent tried to talk me out of it but eventually put the cancellation ticket in. The next day an agent called me to further try to offer me some deals to not cancel. I was firm and she cancelled it. Within an hour my status went back to Phase 1 from Phase 5. I took it as meaning it had been cancelled.

A week and a half later the credit showed up on my credit card with no problems.

I ordered a Dell m170 the second after she cancelled and before I'd gotten my refund credited.... and it arrived in 5 days rock solid with a 3 year ON SITE warranty. I just took it to a LAN party this weekend and it performed perfectly the whole time -- GPU temp never getting over 80C.

3dMark05 -- 6815
3dMark06 -- will run this tonight

Yeah, one of the draws to Hypersonic is that they say they have pre-built conigurations that have already gone through the burn-in process and are ready to ship. I guess that's where being a smaller company has it's advantages, you can keep stock enough to cover your demand. And the pre-built configs are maxed out too, not like other companies where the pre-builts are middle of the roads. They say 1-2 days to ship and ship overnight for less that AW charges for ground. If I get it in a week after I order I will be beyond happy. The only wait now is on AW, so I'm still in their waiting game =P.

Good Luck on your move to Hypersonic (that is a sincere, not sarcastic, comment). Agree that going back to Phase 5 made your decision easy. We'll keep an eye out for your review in the Hypersonic section.

Aye same congratz. Hope it meets all your expectations. If it's cheaper and you get more for your money it is the way to go. I would have gone Voodoo more than likely myself if they were cheaper, but I realized the same thing. For getting a better configuration I was saving 500 dollars.

Sounds like you'd be getting some good stuff with Hypersonic. The HD's and the wareantees would be great. I like the case that Alienware offers though, the design is my favorite but Hypersonic still seems to have great systems too. Go for it if you think it'd be worth it.

I've been reading on another forum and Hypersonic has it's share of nightmare storries too. But just the extra waranties and the added hd bonus will be good I hope. AW was quick with confirming the cancelation and said I'd get the money in 5 days or so, so I'm guessing Monday. The cancelation rep also sent me an email confirming the cancelation at my request, which was nice to have. Always good to have proof of a transaction.

both are great companies, (i can attest to both's quality and reputation) either machine is a good choice, and it really comes to price, and what you really want/need out of the company. Big company with faster responce go aw,for equally good customer service and prebuilt models, but slower response time, go hypersonic. i really like both companies. i went hypersonic for my most reent laptop as i could get a better cpu, the 7800gtx(aw hadnt offered it yet) and 2gigs of ram at a sligtly lower cost. sometimes aw has the lower cost. doesnt really matter. what matters is that you get a solid highperformace gaming machine. enjoy the new pc.

Hope it works out for you, man. Let us know how it goes.

I have a week at least, going to research the living hell out of all of them. Let me know if I'm missing anyone: Dell, HP, Gateway, Voodoo, WindowsPC, Alienware, FalconNW, Saeger, Hypersonic. I don't think Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba count in this game.
