No DVD sound from 9860

I have a Sager 9860.
For some reason, the sound from a DVD does not work.
Other sound files on the computer work (mp3/avi/wav) and also cds play.
Any suggestions?

do yo u mean when watching a movie? wich kinda Dvd playback programm u got?

Yes, when I am watching a DVD.
I have tried media player/vlc/nero player/intervideo. Thought it might be the dvd, but have tried a few different ones, but still no luck.
None of them work.
Any suggestions?

well at least that should be a software problem. Are you using the integrated Intel Sound device or a Audigy 2 ZS? Maybe you trying to playback the DVD in DTS or some other non working standard. Try to mess around with the sound settings of the dvd in the dvd-menu. Did you encounter the problem with different dvds or just with one. You could also go ahead and try using Cyberlinks PowerDVD.
