Is 2GB needed? - Page 2

I have a question regarding RAM, and found this to be a good place:

I've just gotten 2 gigs of ram and love the performance increase. However, I've noted that Windows still uses a paging file. Given that I normally use at most 700MB of memory in normal apps and part of that is taken up by my pagefile, is there any way to set my pagefile to zero or to preferentially use my 2GB of ram instead?

I've heard that dual channel doesnt impact performance that much... sure it's slower, but wont the benefits of the 512 outweigh the loss of dual channel?

If i do get 2 GB, I will have to buy a single stick of 1024 at the moment and add another one later when I get some money, so i'll be without dual channel anyway
