Hardware problem?

Hello, a few months back I bought the NP9880. Great untill relatively recently.

Whenever, I try to boot up my system I get "Operating System Not Found."

What can/should I do?

First - let us know if you have multiple HDD with RAID-0 employed. If the RAID was somehow corrupted - it may need to be rebuilt. If you don't have raid - then I'd try to get the diagnostic Floppy/CD for the HDD in question and run a test on it to determine of the HD failed.

Ok, I don't really want to sound like an idiot but I am unsure what the RAID function is. I did put in my windows CD to try and see if I could just re-install windows and no driver shows up, like the BIOS will work and everything but it says something like Unknown Device for where I should be installing it to.

was that any help? what can I do from here?

Its sounds like you HD has failed. When my HD was about to fail I did get an error that HD failure is imminent and I replaced it right away. I was unable to recover data from the drive so i had to start over from scratch. I was able to copy some important things to my removeable drive so it didn't take me long to be back to normal. Make sure when you have the WIndows CD in the drive that you set the boot sequence in the Bios to have the CD drive first. It should boot and allow you in a DOS prompt to type D:\ (or whatever your HD drive letter is) if you get unknown device the drive is shot.
