The specs in the offer we got from work says it has 2x512Mb RAM, and not 1x1Gb, which is unfortunate. If it is true it will mean buying two new 1Gb sticks of RAM (here is to hoping that the ones I have in my ACER will work in the FS Xi1546!)
Saw that someone over at notebookreview.com had sent in a review of the Xi1546, which should be up soon!

I played around with one today! I've been kind of away from the laptop scene, since I'm having exams and driving lessons, so basicly I don't have time to keep updated. So imagina my surprise when today, I went to a electronics shopping, and when I was browsing the laptops, shabang, there it was.

The first thing I have to mentione is the screen. It's huge, and it looks HUGE. Really. I compared it to a Amilo 1437G and the difference was abismal! The price was 1600€ (usd 2032$). The thing is, the Amilo 1437G costs 800€ (usd 1016$). It's really cheap I believe, for a laptop with it's configurations. Even though the 1546 is a great laptop, the 1437 costs here half the price...

I'm really tempted to buy it...

well Lost Heaven the 1546 is pretty much double the performance if not more in gaming so you get what you pay for ;p

expecting the t2400 - 1.83ghz and getting a t2500 2ghz!!!

and again expecting a 100gb hdd and getting 2!!!

been using it for a couple of days now and its all running great really impressed an all round great laptop!

Review of Xi1546

Hi!
A review of the Xi1546 was recently posted on notebookreview.com, it looks quite good, and should do nicely for working/gaming on. As expected, it is not all that portable, but I guess one can get used to the weight of it. The ATI x1800 was clocked at 400MHz instead of 450, which is the given clockspeed from ATI, so one would have to work on bringing that up a bit. Can't wait to get my FS, but that will not be until late august...

I understand where you're going, but the truth is that you don't really get double the performance. For that you would need a processor twice as powerfull, twice as much ram, double quality screen, etc... get it? It may have double performance on gaming, but that is one of many aspects.

Anyway, I ended up buying a M3438G. On the last minute I was really undecided between this and the XI 1546, but the price factor won (1546 costs here 1600€ and mine cost 990€ (sweet)). Have no lag problems so far, so I'm totally satisfied

It's a shame about that lag problem on some Fujitsu-Siemens laptops, because apart from that, I consider it to be the brand with the best quality\ price relation.
