I might pick a pair of these up, anyone know if they are good or not? and what is t he difference between e2 and e2c?

E2 and E2C are the same model,

C stands for consumer cause Shure were accused by their professional cliets of selling out to the general public hence they attempted to distuguish the two by a 'consumer' edition

Soundwise, they're alright..they sound a hell of a lot better than the Sony's EX71 range, or the whole of that 30 pound/50 dollar range

Bass response is tight, a little bright sometimes but overall pleasant sounding

In my opinion, they're better than the E3s but if your looking for some great buds, try get the E4Cs..they're overall much better and very much justify their price

Consider Etymotics. I own the ER6i's, and I'm very satisfied.

I used to have the E2c's and they just weren't right to me. They sounded too dull and muddy (imo). The Etymotic ER6 were a little better, but still had rolled off highs. I finally found a good deal on some Shure E4's for $135 off Head-Fi. It is my favorite IEM at this moment.

Well if he never used a quality head/earphone, then the E2C's will probably be good. I tried them, and yeah, they weren't too precise (dull). The ER6i's that I have, feature some bass, just enough for what I listen too (rock, jazz, blues, classical). Even though many cheaper phones have more bass, the bass is more accurate in the ER6i, meaning instead of sounding monotone, you can tell distinct tones out in the bass element of the music. I never tried the E4's as they were out of my price range. The rolled highs are not too bad.

i use a set of ER6 (not i) with my iRiver H320... great headphones, love em. Of course now that i had them for next to 18 months my left plug lost ooomph (it sounds about 1/5 the volume of the right, and yes my balance is just fine). I narrowed it down to be a cable damage issue somewhere. Need new headgear... little advice?

Are you suggesting that they are only designed to last less than two years?!

I reccomend the E3 for th ebudget you have for the E2. E3's go for a tad more than the ER6i around the web.

Holy hell, how did you manage that? MSRP is 299 I think and I had a tough time finding them under $200. I ended up buying Westone UM2 (~= shure E5 from what I hear) for $275 shipped.

the WESTONE UM2 IS AWESOME however its nearly 300 and considering the price i scored the E4 for only 190 shipped all over the web th echoice was obvious. I will however input that the WESTONE is clearly superior to the E4s for htos egoing shopping for one.

They have arrived, and I can confirm they are incredible phones. I've been looking for a while for good phones and I've found em.
