Time to deal on the $750 off?

I'm looking at the 1505 or 1705, can't decide which yet.

1505
T2400 (1.83)
SXGA+ TrueLife
1GB 533mhz RAM
80GB 7200RPM
8x DVD
3945 WiFi card
BlueTooth card
9 cell battery
2 year warranty with Complete Care
$1280 after $750 coupon (before taxes and shipping)

I can configure something similar with the 1705, but of course it's about $300 more (or I can knock down the processor and other options to come out to $1250 after coupon).

Anybody have any thoughts? Seems like it's going to be tough to beat the $750 coupon unless they do the crazy 30% off EPP + 12% + something else.

I've been waiting for a while for the deals to settle out. I know some of you guys are waiting for video cards, but I don't want or need one. Would you buy now?

Since you don't care about video cards, I wouldn't get a 17 inch laptop.... If you like the price and config on the 1505, and you sound like you have been following its price pretty closely, then I don't see much to wait for.

(Excluding if you're patient enough to wait for merom, but that's unlikely to be out before september IMHO)

If you're not going to game, go for the E1505, you'll love it. Take all the good features of the I6000 and add Core Duo and you have a very nice laptop. You won't be able to play games worth a crap with integrated graphics, but some people don't care about that. If you don't care about games then go for it.

Yeah, I'm not really a gamer. If I do game, it's on the big screen with a PS2, or a PS3 in the fall. I'd rather have the battery life and cooler temp than the graphics card.

Seems like most of the changes have settled out for now, and no big changes until Merom and Vista.

I figure I can watch the prices go up and down some more, but I doubt it will ever get lower than the $1250 mark. I think I'll jump on it. Thanks, guys.

too bad its 750 off $1999 and not off $1499

those were the days (750 off 1499!)

actually bought mine for alittle under 750 with one!

i configged a 6400 for someone last night, came to about 1100$, loaded, so 1250$ sounds a little high, to me.

Chevy,
How did you get a loaded 6400 down to $1100? I'm guessing you used the $450 off $1499. But I can't get those specs down to $1550-coupon like you said. Can you post the specs you used?

by loaded i mean:

1.83 duo, 1gb 533, wSxga TL, 2yr warranty, free dvd burner, intel 3915 (or whatever#) wifi, and a 40gb 5400 sata drive.

the hd was the only thing really lacking, but for most people thats fine, and cheaper to get off newegg or some online store.

final price with shipping/tax was 1150$ i believe.

Ahh, I had the hard drive, 9 cell battery, Bluetooth, and Complete care to get it up to the next coupon level.

I can get it to $1173 delivered doing it your way. Not bad.

i am so tempted to get a 6400 with 256 x1400, and all the bells/whistles..

but, i dont need one yet, so i best wait till sept. when prices fall, and i can save about 300$ by getting what i want for 1750-(750 coupon )

Chevy,
Are you just assuming that they'll come out with a $650 off $1499 soon? Are you just going be Dell's pattern in the past?
i hope they come out with a awesome deal around july or so, so i can deck the E1705 out.

Yeah chevyrulz099, I would love to get my hands on a E1505 like you do but I'm also waiting for the price to come down because it doesn't make sense for me to pay the premium as I have currently got 3 laptops.... Anyone willing to buy a Toshiba A55-S3061 or a HP dv1227us from me???

Yeah, I was hoping for more like a $750 off a $1499 like last year.... If it comes out, I will definitely go for a E1505 with the ATI X1400 256MB graphics chip....
