Dead/No Fans

Problem:
Sager NP5600P does not boot/no screen. I have observed that when i hit the on buton all three fans on the base run for approx 3 seconds then stop. There are no post beeps, no screen activation, cdrom checks and floppy drive but then nothing. Although it still happily plays music cd.

How severe is the problem?

Make sure you have the front panel dj player off. The machine wont boot with this on.

Time to call for an RMA. If you can't boot, you can't do diddley-squat. I presume you've tried with the recovery disc installed and gotten nothing. So, no boot, no nothing. You need to start yanking stuff and doing diagnostics with the diagnostic machines or trying them in other computers that do work. Normally, the folks at SAGER are the most efficacious means of accomplishing this unless you have some serious gear about and know how to use it. In which case, I doubt you'd be posting here.

One thing you might try is to open it up and make sure all the components are properly seated. They could have worked loose. Also, take out the CMOS battery and reseat it. If that doesn't work, try a new CMOS battery. If none of that helps at all, its hard to say what the problem is because there's nothing to go on other than it doesn't work. Could be something simple, but the odds are leaning that way.
