i6400 with option for x1300 or x1400

Maybe its just me, constantly checking the Dell website but I see that the 6400 now has the option for a x1300 128meg or x1400 256meg video card! Can't wait till Dell changes the deal of the week to something other than a printer and free cd/dvd burner upgrade!

P.S> I was looking at the Dell canada website.

Damn, I got all excited about maybe getting a E1505 with the x1400 thinking it was going to be at least a little better than the x300. Not so much though, I mean the 3DMark05 score is only about 200 points higher than a stock x300, and 200 points lower than my OC'd x300. As much as I want the core duo, I really want a vid card that's a little better than that. I really wish they had done the E1505 with a x1600 option.

edit: Why does Dell's site say the x1400 is not PCI-E? I thought all the new dedicated graphics were built on PCI-E? I know my x300 is PCI-E, why would they take a step back with the x1400? And are there any advantages that the x1400 has over the x300? I'm just trying to determine if it's be worth it to go with a E1505 with a x1400 since i can get one exactly how I want it for $1071 after coupons. I could probably get at least $700-800 for my I6000. I would love to have Core Duo, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $$.

The X1400 on the 6400 might be higher clocked than the one in the Acer 5672, the Thinkpad T60 reviewed with a X1400 scored 2000 in 3DMark05. The X1400 supports SM3.0 and has Avivo.

And it's PCI-E, all the mobile graphics cards are now PCI-E. ATI and Nvidia won't even be developing any more mobile cards for AGP thanks to the lack of upgradability in laptops (AGP users won't bitch and complain about no new AGP cards), and Intel's near monopoly power that made the switchover to PCI-E pretty much overnight with the intoduction of Sonoma.

careful, acer might not use Hypermemory!

The x1400 in the Acer test is a 128mb unit, the one available for the e1505 is 256mb (128 dedicated, 128 shared), fwiw.

Is the larger HD your only upgrade (other than the x1400)? Mine came out to the same price shipped with sxga briteview and x1400 as the only upgrades.

Yes the hd was the only upgrade, it was like $75, but thats still less then a 80gb drive new. I was gonna get the screen upgrade ($29) but I think I forgot it lol. I might call and have that added on.

Screen upgrade for me was $100, $179 for the x1400.
