Dead pixel guarentee. - Page 2

Peace of mind is almost priceless--well, actually $100 to $200 to be exact in this case. I spent $1500 on a 20.1 LCD in '02 and was very excited to get this new technology. Of course it had a stuck pixel in the top (where the address bar goes) and it absolutely drove me nuts. I was bummed to find out that replacements weren't available unless there were 8 or more dead pixels on the screen (at the time that was the standard). I obsessed over it for a while but eventually forgot about it and moved on with my life. But if it were in an obvious portion of the screen that would not be acceptable.

But I've had 2 laptops with perfect screens, a 14" XGA and a 17" WUXGA, and I hear the manufacturing process is getting better--so hopefully the number of people paying $3k+ for a defective screen will drop closer to zero in the future.

Does anyone know what Sager's standard dead pixel policy is?

Taken directly from Sager's site:

Introduction
The Zero Dead Pixel Insurance guarantees that there will be no dead or partially-lit pixels on screen. This guarantees is only limited to the first thirty (30) days of receipt of the unit, and not the entire year period of the general warranty.

Features / Specifications
Any units purchased with the "Insurance" that are received with any dead pixels will be treated by Sager as a DOA unit, and Sager will cover 3 day shipping both ways and replace the unit. (Continental USA only)

Remarks
Unit orderded under this option will require an extra 3 to 5 days lead time from order to ship.

If I were our vendors I WOULD up the price by 100beans or so and AUTO matically do the dead pixel check. They would get their money, and they would get a rep for never letting a defective LCD come out of their shop, which would ultimately lead them to more business. People get pissed when they have to pay "extra" for something that should be standard.
