So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...
Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Review
by Djembe
One of the longest and most enduring brands in computers is Thinkpad. Originally developed by IBM in the USA, Thinkpad notebook computers are now...
One discrepency I found from ABS's sepcs and Uniwell's is the weight. Uniwell listed the notebook at 6.3 while ABS says 7.8? Any way to confirm who's right?
The f2 is made by AOpen, which is a different company from Uniwell. That being said it doesn't surprise me that all your buttons worked.
I don't think your laptop can sound worse than the f2. f2's built-ins are horrible.
I am unsure about whether your desktop really had bad graphics or it could just be your monitor. Have you tried calibrating your desktop?
Thanks Dashby, seems you your Mayhem G1. I have been waiting for pictures of the computer and boy is it sweet. Is the machine actually metal, or just metallic looking? Once again thank you and I should be ordering one of these bad boys soon. Know I've asked this before, but after the lsat time I have asked, have you noticed any noise? I want to use this in a semi quiet atmoshpere where a loud fan is unacceptable (be honest ).
Thanks for the review, Dashby! Y'all keep making my decision harder. The Mayhem G1 looks like a nice machine. You say that they gave you a $60 credit for not taking the games? Maybe that credit and some creative configuring will get the G1 under my budget. If I go with a Uniwill machine, I'd much rather by from ABS than Cyberpower based on what I've been reading here lately. It sounds like ABS is the better company by far.
BTW, New England won the game I simmed 20-17. Also, someone asked about how loud the system was..so far I haven't noticed any noise.
Now I've got a question, what's the best way to get benchmarks. Maybe a stupid question but it appears there is a canned method folks are using out here to deliver benchmark numbers. Please advise.
Hey Dashby-
Just ordered a G1 myself, but woke up today not realizing what sound card is in there?! What's in your's if you don't mind my asking? I'm pretty new to laptops, always been a tower guy. Are they (somewhat) easily upgradeable?
thx
You juxtaposed the G1 with a notebook with a WXGA+ resolution? Do you know the exact resolution for that notebook? If it is 1680*1050, then it should be called WSXGA+.
I've assembled many desktop systems and understand the technology fairly well but my next computer will be my first notebook.
I'm considering the Mayhem G2 and some others; the Panasonic p25, Fujitsu 5010, zForce F2 and the IBM T41. I want the mobile cpu, Dothan would be nice but the older 1 mb cache set is ok too.
I'm going on the road for a company and this machine will travel all over the world. I plan to treat it well as I can but it will be scanned and fidded with by customs folk.
I've seen and touched the IBM and it seems to be very solid with it's metal hinges and screen frame. I've not seen the ABS machines. They have a wonderful price and feature set but I don't know how sturdy they are. Does anyone know what systems have sturdy metal hinges, fairly rigid screen frames and robust looking port covers? I want Radeon graphics which rules out all of the "rugged" and "semi-rugged" sysems I've seen and they all cost a sultan's ransom anyway.
