Uh, that wasn't supposed to happen!!!!!!!!!! - Page 2

BIOS should be "hard-wired" in, so you shouldn't have to do anything in regards to that.

HT question... hopefully someone else has that answer. Might want to open up the BIOS during boot and look to see if there's anything in there regarding HT.

The answer to your first question is no because the BIOS wasn't installed on your HDD but on the BIOS chip on the mobo.

I can't answer your second question because I'm not very familier with the BIOS you're speaking of

Well, It's good to know I don't have to worry about re-flashing the BIOS!

I know there is an option in the old BIOS for HT to be turned off but I could never get windows to load with HT "off" in the BIOS... wierd I know, but I was just asking if anyone has experience with the new BIOS and booting up with HT off?!

the new BIOS thread:

Hi Daron, I am so glad it all worked out and you did not have a hardware failure on the video card! I don’t use HT on my 8890 (at the time my favorite game would lockup with it enabled) so I have been using my 8890 for 2.5 years with it off. If you install XP with HT enabled, then turn it off in the BIOS you need to reinstall XP. Likewise the other way around, I have HT off, if I turn it on I have to reinstall XP. Very glad you are up and running!! Take Care, Andy

that's a very helpful bit of info ~ thanks again Andy

I may actuall go ahead and re-install XP and see what life is like without HT enabled!

back up and running without HT... this may be a great thing since my 3d softwares (when modeling) don't take advantage of the virtual core anyway
