A possible reason why they took out the Go 7800

Is posted an imagine of what seems to be a 9400 with a Go 7600. I've heard that the 7800 runs too hot, so they might be wanting to put something less power hungry in there.

Let's just hope it's clocked right (450/1000) because Dell likes to underclock.

Hopefully it's not the 9400, or at least not totally getting rid of the 7800 as it is more powerful. This would be nice to have in the E1505 also. If it is replacing the Geforce 6600 like the article states, it is probably going in a 15.4" notebook too.

actually, i just saw a dell internal email about this.
the 7800 go was pulled from the lineup because of a "manufacturing delay" on nvidias part. they expect this to be cleared by may 1st.

i heard somewhere that the 7600 was becoming an option, along with the 7800 again.

What I find interesting is that they pointed out a "Pentium-M" inside the machine. The hinge cover is definately off of a 9400... but the "Centrino" sticker on the lower right of the palmrest if definately Pentium-M. And the glared out sticker on the lower left is most likely an Nvidia badge.

And if they demo'd video on the machine and not games - it's a safe bet it'll be well underclocked compared to the desktop version of the card.

I was at CES, and I can tell you that there were NO 7600 go-based laptops at Dell that day.

That is the 9400 running the 7800 Go.

well that lappy surely have a sticker

How is the 7800 Go to hot? Even with 1.3v 468/940, as long as you take care, it doesn't throttle... Clocked at 250/686 it's hardly ticking over! I sure hope they put them back in!

I got a call from dell about my replacement system... he said the 7800 will be back in may.

the 7800 go is that much better than a x1400? even if you include power consumption, temp and all that?
no, in terms of power consumption, and heat, the x1400 is much better.

If you want gaming power, the 7800 is much better.

Given the delays people were having on their 9400 with 7800go's, then this seems to make sense.

It's a 9400 with a Pentium-M in it, not a Core Duo... so something was different about it. Intel would've given Dell shit if they put the wrong sticker on there.

It could've been a 9300 with a 9400 hinge cover for all anyone knows.

The 7800go is light years ahead in gaming performance compared to the x1400...

Oblivion kills my 7800. The game runs fine, really smoothly but the card gets to 82degrees, then either gives me loads of artifacts or BSODs.
