Is my DVD Drive failing?

Hey everyone, just recently my burning only produces defective cds and dvds, and sometimes when I put a disc in only some of the files will show up as on the disc, not all of them.

Does this sound like the drive is failing?

-Thanks

MORE INFO -- Please

Is this a comercially made disc that you are having problems with or on that was "burnt" on your or another computer? If you have no problems with comercially made discs and have problems with "home made" ones- I'd suspect the media first.

I have had the same issue with my 9860.

After a long painstaking repair process it was (as they told me) a "DVD Converter board" and they said they fixed it.

The problem has continued and begun to cause the same problems it did before.

I have a Toshiba drive.
