Upgrade processor or something else?

Alright, I'm trying to configure this thing so that it comes out just right for $2000 minus coupon. I'm going with the 1GB RAM, at least 80GB 7200 HD, BT/WiFi cards, 9 cell battery and X1400. But those options push me over the $1500 mark but well below the $2000 mark. So that leaves me about $340 of room to play between coupons.

So with the extra money, which do you think is the best value to upgrade? Change the processor from 1.66 to 1.83 (doubt I'd ever notice), upgrade the warranty to 2 years, complete care (hate to give money away on insurance), etc...

Any thoughts on best value?

Warranty. Get the most you can afford.

May suck now.. But in 4 years when your laptop stops working, you won't complain about getting a brand new model because they can't replace the parts in yours.

Hi jacksonian,
I would consider the "complete care warranty". I plan to use my notebook alot, so "when" I drop it or something happens..and it will, I wont have to fork over another 2000 for a new notebook. There seems to be alot of people on this forum who are willing to spend the money on upgrades in hopes of higher performance. My experince has been you never get the true performance only bragging rights. It depends what you value. My 2 cents!

Yeah, I seem to fall for that trap of thinking I'm going to see this big difference in performance and the truth is that I almost never see it.
