nope but i use mine cause it will disable itself when a mouse is plugged in so its pretty sweet

The only time I have disabled the touchpad drivers, was on an old Win95 machine (micron PC) and there were conflicts after upgrading to Win98. After the upgrade, every time you would install the intellimouse software over the TP drivers the mouse pointer was so unstable it was unuseable.

Short answer, no you don't, but why wouldn't you if there is no conflict?

If your touchpad is installed as a touchpad, there's a function key + F## command to disable it so that it doesn't interfere with typing.

Certain notebooks like my ASUS has a on/off button for the touchpad.

My dad's old HP had an on off for the touch pad...

I think the stock touchpad drivers on my laptop didn't allow scrolling in firefox, which was sort of annoying so I got the new drivers.
