thankyou for your response shazza, perhaps ill go with the internal wireless card, but ive never installed hardware internally into a laptop, so without taking a risk of damaging the laptop, perhaps i should go for the external...

when i was working on my raid problem (yeah still not fixed), i saw teh slot to put the wireless card...seems pretty easy...but if you dont feel comfortable installing it, thats cool.

which adapter did you buy?
i know that the 5700 has what is called "express card" slot, and i am not sure if the slot allows for regular pcmcia cards.

again i would say take afvantage of alienware support...send them an email and aske them card they suggest for the slot.

well about a day after i got it, my raid started screwing up...spent all night with tech support to no avail. So I just settled on have 2 hard drives with no Raid 0. well 2 nights ago my wife said that while she was surfing the comp froze up on her and after rebooting got a message that the hd was failing and data could become corrupted.
went home last night and got the same message..in fact everytime i boot up i get that message.

looked at teh via raid toll software and it had the second hd as the one being a pain...i unplugged the hd and everything worked fine.

i have an email into support trying to get an rma for the hd....hopefully ill hear fromt hem soon and they can send me another hd.

yeah...things at work and life in general have been crazy and more important than the laptop (i know i slapped myself when i wrote that)...

after the last call to aw i wanted to be able to devot as much time as possible to them.

i hope this doesnt come off as a AW bash..i love my laptop..and i dont have some ungodly expectation that technology should be perfect and unfailing....
