I use whatever seems best at the time. BTW: My main laptop is a Hypersonic. I have given Dell crap (you always give ur brothers crap) from time to time. But why hate?

Id I were Dell, the only thing I would change would be lowering Alienware's prices and probably refresh the case.

Sadly, I would have owned an Alienware 5700 by now, but wasn't willing to wait 2 months to get it. As it was, I ordered it 2 weeks before Christmas and it was delayed a few times until finally towards the end of January, I cancelled the order. Every time I spoke with reps at AW, they either a.) didn't have a clue what they were talking about, or b.) were just trying to say the right things to keep me happy and keep my order in place. I ordered a Dell 9400 a few days later and had it on my doorstep in 10 days. Now, that is service!

And that's what I hope Dell brings to the table with Alienware products/support. Because I so wanted an AW notebook, but was not willing to put up with the incompetence. Maybe in time I will come to trust AW, and purchase one of their notebooks in a couple of years now that this aquisition has happened. In my opinion, this move benefits both parties. Dell has a line of gaming PC's/laptops now, and AW has respectability and better customer support now. It's a win-win situation for both companies.

thats where you would fail why buy a company with a larger GP margin and sell cheaper to lower the GP to your already existing companies?

For the time being it would make no sense to change things until all these people threatening never to buy again and cancle their orders actually do then they may need to change things but if alienware remians independant using their parts , researching their new ideas/styles then it should be fine now they get the money from the dell buyers with the cheaper/more business sales and the high end gaming buyers so why change the product to be more like their existing dell computers when they could just have expanded if they wanna make more of the same

I have a 5700 ordered and am not one of those talking of cancelling i dont really mind who the profit cheque goes to i bought it coz i like it plain and simple and i dont see why i would not buy one in the future as long as i am still happy alienware is independantly ran from dell

I can see the prices of AW machines coming down slightly if they start manufacturing them at Dell's Malaysian facilities. The time it takes to get one would be less as well.

I very much doubt that the product lines of either company will change in the forseeable future.

i imagine the manufactureing place will not change as they are going to continue to operate seperately although maybe as has been mentioned the bits may arrive quicker with the help of dell but i think all production etc will continue where and as it is now

Yeah, the way I'm reading it AW won't be doing much if anything different except taking advantage of Dell's clout to get parts to AW's shop faster. And really, if I was AW and had to wait too long for parts, I'd be happy to have Dell leaning on suppliers to get my parts to me faster to get my customer his/her new PC faster

More satisfied AW customers now = more Dell $.

Edit: I mean can you imagine, purely an example, if Dell called up a mobo manufacturer and said 'Get AW those new high end mobo's now!" Well, that's a bit more of an incentive coming from Dell. They might be most of that manufacturers mobo's buisness.....

Figured out who negged repped me. Very surprised.

Can't believe that. While some people can't man up to what they do, I'll be the man and not say who it is in public, keeping your 'rep' in tact.

Also, whoever pos repped me, thank you. I know who did that too.

Have a nice day.

For the most part AW forum members are apparently very young, foolish with their money and extremely immature to say nothing of how furious they are that Dell bought Alienware.
I know several people have been banned from notebookforums for commenting on the acquisition here in the dell forums by moderators that are alienware owners, I SAY GROW UP ALL OF YOU!!!! That means you to mr alienware moderator young man!

ComputerBuilderEnthusiast who dislikes watercooing. LOL.
My Dell monitor probably costs as much as your laptop. It is so funny how one group berates another. Dell folks hate AW folks. AW folks hate Dell folks. DIYers think both groups are just lame.

I own a Dell and a home-built, so I must think I'm lame.

As long as AW doesn't get assimilated into the Dell machine then I think everyone will win. I have no idea if that will ever happen or not. <shrug>

The main problem I had when I was an Alienware owner was turnaround time for depot service. Hopefully AW can benefit from Dell's onsite service program and even complete care.

We have made it clear on expectations regarding behaviour, if those users have posted something against that then they deserve the ban. Simple comments that are NOT flaming, etc will not result in a ban. This is something ALL the moderator's and admins support not just the Alienware ones.

I dont even wanna post in these threads anymore...its just so SENSITIVE. I don't get it? I USED to post my strong opinions and it would just be a conversation. Now it seems that you cant say anything without all this "banning" talk? This is a computer message board.

I for one respect many of the moderators....Yangshee has been very friendly towards myself, and craig has been tolerant of my posts as well. But I'd say in the last few weeks it's gotten over sensitive. We're all mature enough to make decisions about what computer we like..is there a time where we are taking all this too seriously? Do we need to keep banning people for having an opinion? I've seen countless posts calling dell cr*p, etc, and I've never had my feelings hurt by it, so why are others so sensitive? It's fun to debate both sides, and to hear peoples reasoning for their opinions.

A "troll" is NOT someone who says they would rather buy a 40% off XPS than an ALX...we need a much better definition of a troll around here. If it was my forum, I'd be banning people who insult other people, name calling, belittleing with the whole im smarter, bigger, have more money stuff..that should be a boot, and we HAVE 1 or 2 of those types.

Just a thought.

Commish

LOL. I have been banZored twice but not for that yet. Why should you get banned unless you directly flame others. Commish it sounds like u want people banned just because they irritate u.
