i have really been wanting an alienware laptop but i think it would be impossible for me to save the $3300 for the 51m i want so i was thinking about going with the sentia. the sentia i was going to get would have the 1.7ghz, the 60gb 7200rpm and the 1056 ram. i am not a very intense gamer so i would not need to have the best graphics possible i just want smooth gameplay with no choppys or anything like that. can the sentia handle halo or other intense games like that with sacraficed graphics or would it just lag up and overheat. also does the sentia have to go through the phase checks that take months, or do they just send them out because there not as high performance

Judging by the specs on AW site, I would say it is not a hardcore gamers machine.

Counterstrike does not require much for smooth game play. I thought I saw a post which mentioned around 50 fps, but I could be wrong on that.

As I was downloading COD, I went to COD's site and read the rquirements which seemed to suggest that it would not run on anything other than ATI or INVIDIA. Also need DirectX9 support which Intel's site does say that the Extreme inside the Sentia supports.

After installing and playing the game I was relieved to find that the Sentia handled the game just fine despite the impression their website gave.

Call of Duty requires a lot more than CounterStrike does, and if CounterStrike or similar is the type of game you play, then it should be more than adequate for light to moderate gaming.

The gamers in this forum is tempting me to play these games more than I have time to. After playing Call of Duty last night, te plan WAS to uninstall and move on with my life. Well it seems that I am hooked, and will find myself playing.

Is HALO heavier than Call of Duty?

From what i hear on the forums, sounds like Halo takes a lot more then COD.

Maybe the Sentias are different than what I've used, but I've had a couple machines with Intel video onboard, and I will never, ever do it again. The ones I've had to deal with have been the bottom of the barrel, performance-wise, and games just generally run like crap on them.

But, hey, maybe it's just the cards I've used.
