I had a VAIO SZ120P for about two weeks. Then I returned it - and got the IBM/LENOVO T60P (2007-D3U). I love the IBM much more than the SZ.
Reasons (also, these are the reasons why I am dis-satisfied with the SZ):
1. The screen in VAIO was gorgeous, but the top (where the big VAIO logo site) felt very flimsy - and I was afraid that I am eventually going to break it. In contrast, the thinkpad it wonderfully sturdy.
2. The keyboard was problematic - espcially my spacebar key was really bad. In comparison, the thinkpad keyboard - ummm.. no comparison at all.
3. The thinkpad is about a pound heavier - but the powerhorse that it is, for me the one lb more weight is justified, even at the expense of a worse screen and somewhat ugly (but professional IMHO) looks. Componentwise, T60p is much better that SZ120P in almost all respects (2.12Ghz vs 1.83GHZ, 5400RPM vs 7200RPM, 128MB GF 7400 vs 256MB ATI FireGL 5200 etc).
And the price - I got a very good deal on the thinkpad.
So, my dissatisfaction from the SZ120P arose not because the laptop was at fault (except maybe the kbd), but the existence of a far superior product at about the same price range, with few more compromises (no Firewire, 1.2lb heavier, dull screen etc).
