Did you download the pro version? Make sure you downloaded the free version.

What the...I am using the free version. When I try to submit for the first time I was taken to a registration screen, wherein I enter an email address and a passward. After clicking Submit an error message appears with something about an invalid key...I don't even have a key....serious bugs in the 3dmark03 system, it seems.

hmmm that's strange. You're supposed to get a free account when you register your email and password.

Maybe someone else can offer insight?

When you said u have Catalyst 4.1 drivers, do u mean u used the one provided by AOpen, or did u mod a desktop driver?

I modded the ATI drivers from www.ati.com

Well unfortunately it doesnt appear that I have a clock happy M10 like XSternMinator. I recently gave ATITool a try, which btw is much better than powerstrip. The default settings on my card are 344.25/209.25. I guess thats classified as a 9600 Pro according to Anandtech. Anything higher appears to give artifacts after a bit. The wierd thing is even if I return the settings back to the defaults I get artifacts. I have to restart the notebook for things to go back to normal (no artifacts).

A bit more about overclocking. I believe most chip manufacturers have a certain tolerance (5% or so). If your fortunate you'll get a chip thats branded as a lesser model, but in reality is a higher version. Sounds like X got a Turbo core packaged as a regular M10. Looks like I got an earlier version of a standard M10 (or Pro).

hee hee, I'm lucky!

When I was in NY the Giants were kicking ass, but once I moved out to Dallas, the Cowboys started kicking ass. I came to the conclusion I am just some kind of lucky charm.

You seem to possess some kind of power like the Indian chief from Catch-22.

X, if you look at the underside of your computer you should see a white sticker that has a manufacturer date on it. I believe its in YYMMDD format. Mine is 031027, I'd be interested if you could post yours. I have a hunch that maybe the newer built 1557Gs could be very overclockable on the video cards. (just a hunch)

I think you know where I'm going with this. Usually these things are produced in batches. If yours can hit those high clocks then I'll bet there are others. We just need to identify them somehow and the mfg date seems like a logical start.

Might be nice for others considering buying a 1557G to know what to look for, eh?.

Well there's no way you'd know which production batch you're getting. My guess is since internetishop has had the 1557G before other vendors, they might have an earlier batch than others.

Eitherway, mine's 031128.

It could also be that I have the XGA (G) and not the SXGA+ (GL) model.

I have the same notebook as you, but I purchased mine just before last thanksgiving. I have the a Hitachi 60 gig 5400 HDD. They told me that the 7200 HDD did not perform well with the 1557G, ( Internet I Shop ). After a little overclocking it performed very well with no artifacts.

Core - 400
Memory - 240
3DMark03 - 2958
3DMark2001SE - 10747
AquaMark - 24,545

Tryed to play commance 4 with those settings and it froze. Backed it down to 366 Core and 222 mem and it runs fine. I also have the XGA Screen. I Also purchased a Antec Notebook cooler which also performs very well. These notebooks get warm on the right side where the vents are located. Even when its overclocked the cooler disapates heat very well. I Forgot I used the Video drivers that came with the notebook. I tried Omega drivers , but the numbers would drop.

Aopen 1557G 1.6 Pent M
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 M10P
15 inch XGA
1 Gig 333 ddr ram
Hitachi 60 HDD 5400 rpm
Toshiba DVD/RW
