In all honesty, if AW has what I need when the time comes, then I'll go with AW. If they do not, then someone else is going to get the nod.

thats why my new laptop is hypersonic. hyper was first out the gates with the 7800gtx and that was a REQUIREMENT. at the time there was also a difference of around 250 too so thats why i was swayed.

I probably will purchase another AW, but it probably buy a desktop system, but who knows they may actually end up making stuff even better. Who knows, lets just see how things go.

I will buy an AW. haven't had one yet, but I think I will be satisfied seeing as I will be purchasing it if a few months. I actually came close to getting an XPS m170, but it didn't turn out to have the power I needed and it had a crappy looking case. so if Dell does make drastic changes, I don't think I will be as angry as some of you other guys are. Aurora m7700 baby!
i think the xps is nice, but i think if they removed the silver on the inside and made the entire case black except the top portion, and maybe offered paint options, then the xps would be even more popular in the gaming market. thats the main problem(and the garbage propriatary crap). if the appearance of delss inside and out was improved, they would be more competitive. rather than that though they bought aw. good choice

I'm thinking the unthinkable and am considering an Aurora 7500 right now, before the pipeline emptys of all of the real Alienware's.

I'm going to wait and see...

I guess my next purchase will have to be a sager/clone, acer, or maybe even a dual boot mac. Prolly go with FNW for a desktop...which is easy 'cuz they're local. I doubt anything will change with AW, but I refuse to support dell in any way.
This is my feeling as well. Its not about Alienware anymore, its about Dell and whether or not I will give them my money. Simply NO! There are still other smaller more gaming focused companies and with this merger they will begin to reap the benefits that Alienware once had from a lot of gamers. As some of these companies get more business they will be able to meet faster turn-arounds and lower prices. Then they too might get bought out one day and the cycle will continue.

The only way I see the Alienware name continuing to have any respect with hard core gamers is if Dell truly leaves them alone no matter what the bottom line looks like. Given Dell's history, I doubt they will do that. They will start to get involved and pressure the Alienware division to reduce costs and start cutting corners, that will take some time but it is imho what will take place. Over time the original founders of this deal will move on and others will take their place who may not realize or understand what the Alienware name represents. Alienware has lost control of their future whether they realize it or not. We can only hope that the right people are in the right positions to preserve the true essence of what an Alienware PC stands for.

I don't understand what you guys are complaining about, like joelist said if it has what I want then I go for it. you guys are going nuts just because you see the name Dell, I don't really understand why the name matters to you, it shouldn't be about the name, it should be the PC's behind the name. if Hewlet Packard or Compaq has what I want then fine, I'll buy from them but if they don't I will buy from someone else. stay optimistic, in another thread, someone showed the memo written to Dell workers about AW, it says specifically that they both will remain seperate entities, you guys need to stay optimistic and try to think that what they say will actually be what they do. don't think 'oh AW is so tainted now that Dell has them in their clutches' you guys (not all of you) live by the name not by the computers. lighten up a little bit.

I for one look at both the product I am buying and the company that I am givning my money to. If that company doesn' t meet my expectations, then I will look elsewhere. I am enjoying my AW m5500 right now, but had this buyout taken place before I was looking, I would have an orange Voodoopc laptop right now. I respect your decision, some of us simply have a different viewpoint on this topic than yourself.
I understand that but a lot of people are looking just at the company, and thats what I don't understand, they look at what company it is and then say 'they are not going to have good products' I respect people's opinions but I think they are looking at just one side of the picture. but whatever, I can't try to change the way people look at things, I apologize

Im with you I refuse to give my money to dell , I will go with another brand.
Wanted an AMD 7700 lucky I waited.

Is everyone hating Dell from a bad personal experience, or is this random?

If Alienware does pull it off, and starts to release the same or better products within a quicker timeframe, I'll bet most of the people saying "never again" will have a change of heart.

IMHO, alot of this animosity is more of a knee jerk reaction than anything else. In the end, I guess only time will tell.

Great poll.

I'd buy from AW again. My Area 51m will be two years old this June and not one problem yet (knock on wood).
