Both the 7800 go and the GTX cards are awsome units. The reason you are scoring to near GTX cards is infact partly due to you running a cooler card with the mod. But if you view the breakdown of the mark-scores, you will see that your bread winner is the dual core. It gains more then 2X then points then my system with a single 760. If you break down the scores and normalize for you having kickass dual cores, you will see that actuall difference in card performance. The difference is rather significant, and 3dmark may not tell the entire story when compaing the 7800go to the 7800GTX go.

On the other hand I dont think my 760 makes full use of the GTX, and it looks like you all are gonna be able to upgrade further then us G2 users. So you still sit in a better position then I do with future compadibility. 2 badass systems none the less

I am also sure that the Core Duo processor influences the 3dmarks over the XPS solo core system with the GTX
I do see why the GTX card would not fit, since the heatsink infact does only after modification. If somehow the keyboard screw mount can be removed, there shoudlnt be a problem with it though. someone has reported it successful in another thread, so here's to seeing how he made it happen.

Does not fit unless you are willing to chop out the keyboard peg on the upper right corner. I am not going to tear apart the lappy again but it is quite a trick. The heatpipes WILL work but there is a different location of the natural curve or divet of the card if you will. I am sure if someone wanted to saw off the keyboard post it might be worth a try. Personally, it is not worth it to me so I am going to just wait it out for the DX10 release which will come down the pipe in several monthst.

THAT is worth modding my laptop for.

when you currently have a choice between an ATI X1400 or to modify and get a 7800go GTX to fit, it just might be worth it, but if you're one of the lucky ones with a 7800go already, yea, not worth it

I just get a quote for 7800gtx heat sink from it-premier.de. 90euro heat sink + 10euro shipping to Ireland + 5euro credit card fee. 105 euro for a heat sink, this is mad! Do you know any other places where you can buy that?
