Two Qs: Light Leakage on I6000 and if anyone has a color profile for I6000 screens?

Okay, look at this picture and tell me if you think there's a lot of light leakage. I see that it is mostly along the bottom:

Also, does anyone have any custom color profiles to share from their I6000s? :P

Thanks

Yes. That is horrible.

Problem is, there's not much alternative other than to upgrade to WUXGA+

You can try your luck with another screen, but there is always the chance of getting one that's worse. Personally I don't think that is very bad, mine was about twice as noticable as that and it never bothered me unless I was watching a movie. Also, remember that light leackage eventually starts to get better. When I got my replacement LG screen it had a little bit of light leackage at the bottom, but was much better than my samsung screen. Now, a month later, there is none at all, it's completely gone. So if you haven't had your laptop long I'd wait it out a little and see if it gets better.

Agree with Camride turn a blind eye to it and enjoy the laptop. My light leakage goes halfway up the screen. But look at it this way, I have a brighter startup bar.

Salut

Right around the same time I did. I'm guessing you have a WXGA screen right? If you do, leave well enough alone as you'll probably get one worse since the WXGA screens tend to be a little worse in that aspect. If you have a WSXGA or WUXGA I'd exchange it just becuase you can end up with a LG screen like mine that kicks ass. My LG screen has 0 light leakage and is much brighter than the previous Samsung screen.

mine is the WSXGA one. Is it hard to request a replacement, such as an lcd screen as is it esay to replace?

argh...is it possible for it to be the lcd cable in the laptop? that's what the chat support person is trying to say...

you waited 3 months before you said anything? its easier to get a replacement within the 21 days. I think now if you get a replacement you'll be getting refurbs (screen's ppl have sent back due to light leakage)

that's how it always was, wasn't it?

Well, I sent mine back after almost 3 months and I got a refurb'd LG that has no light leakage. You may have good luck, you never know. And if the tech person tries to tell you it's the cable just tell them the cable is fine, it's seated properly and that you want a new LCD. Just tell them you'll never buy another Dell if they don't make you happy and replace the darn thing. If you have to talk to several different tech people, do it, you'll eventually get one that will cooperate.
