Which screen and battery do I have?

How can I tell which screen and battery are in my new refurbed Inspiron 6000? I believe each has 2 options. I can't find anywhere in the PC that talks about the specific properties.

There are 3 possible screens:
WXGA: 1280 x 800 maximum/native resolution
WSXGA+: 1680 x 1050 maximum/native resolution
WUXGA: 1920×1200 maximum/native resolution

To tell what battery you have, take it out and look on the underside.
A 9cell battery will say: 80WH
A 6cell will say: 53WH i think

OK, the battery is a 6 cell 53WH and the highest resolution I can select in Display Properties is 1680X1050, so that makes it a WSXGA+.

Are the screens the same, except how small the icons will go? I'm just wondering what differentiates between the different ones.

Yep, that's pretty much it - the more pixels there are, effectively the 'smaller' everything is. If you scroll down a little here:

I took some sample pictures of a desktop running at the different resolutions.

Great thanks for the info everyone! I don't necessarily like how small everything is, but its OK. I tried to set it lower, but thought everything was blurry. I didn't know if it was me b/c it was like 2:30 in the morning and I was super tired.

Is there a good place on the computer I can go to check all the miscellaneous specs like how many RPMs the harddrive is, how fast the RAM is (Mhz) etc.? Or maybe there's a add-in program I can run to tell me this.

No, it's not just you - it's one of the downsides with TFT monitors, they can basically only look good at their maximum resolution.

I would recommend something like sisoft sandra for finding information about your hardware, for anything that's missing just google the name for the device from device manager.
