9750: The Godfather Problems

Hi all. I just wanted to know if anyone else has been having problems getting "The Godfather" game to play. Whenever I start the game up, it shows the splash screen for the game but then crashes to the desktop without any error message.

I've tried our previous fix involving the 61Hz issue, but this doesn't help, and all of EA's possible solutions don't work either. All the drivers are new (including the "Oblivion" nVidia drivers update), so the only thing I can think of is that (maybe) the Go 7800GTX isn't supported yet.

At least I have "Oblivion" to hold me over

Hmmm... I was gonna buy Godfather this weekend. Wonder if I should wait now. Have you found a fix or anything yet?

I did not buy the game, but my friend did.. he has the 5720 and has the exact same issue. I plan to pop by his house and grab the game, bring it back and see if I can get anywhere on my 9750 with it..

If anyone get's it going let me know.

What type of screen is on that puppy? wondering if it is the refresh rate like it is on BF2..the good ole EA curse.. I just got it from my friend, about to install it on my 9750 and start troubleshooting.

OK, I guess that deleting the load.vp6 and paramount.vp6 files from the "Movies" directory, the game plays fine. However, if you want to watch a movie in the game, the game will crash (but those are the clips found through the main menu; regular in-game clips run fine).

Hopefully they will release a patch for this.
