HP's QuickPlay v2.0 - Page 9

I can't bombard HP about QPv2 'cause my dv4000 came with v1. But I agree with you, they should provide a free download of QPv2.

Anyway, I hope they will send a QPv2 copy to SVTSnake.

And...this is #161 post, where are the moderators? I think this thread is really popular and it should be a sticky.

As we talked about before, you could contact Cyberlink to see if you can "upgrade" to Ver 2.0. Since you are a user of a program Cyberlink made, while it is HP labled, Cyberlink made it and may be able to offer some options to you.

Addtionally they could probally confirm if they have provided HP with V2.0 discs.

You think you're being affected, I've got a machine I need to get XP PRO on, but want to be sure I can restore QP v2.0 that came installed. At least on your unit it did come with the QP V1 install disc....

(BTW, How long ago was that? I would think that would be leverage for someone calling HP to say..: Hey a couple of months ago units were shipping with v1.... Now it's not provided????)

Here's something I'm wondering about, When QP v1. came out.... When the units started shipping did HP provide the disc with the unit from day one, Or did it take them 2-3 months after? Did HP ship those people that didn't get the disc one later?

When was v2.0 released? Wondering if it's just a case of them not having them to ship. Don't see a listing for QP 2.0 (at least for a dv8000t), just see v1.2

i have my QPv1.x recovery cd and comes with Linux OS, just free up a 204mb unpartitioned space and once boot from CD, it will automatically re-install it, just follow the on-screen guide.

*will still check what version do i have, when i get home.

You didn't read the whole thread, did you? We don't have any links! That's the problem here!

Now our only hope is SVTSnake

411451-B22 75.00 Software : Software application CD - HP Quickplay restore

This is the part # that is on my invoice for the restore disk. It is definitely different than the part # listed above. We'll see I guess. According to PartSurfer, the part is in stock, so I do not know why mine is not being shipped until the the 4th of June? I'll call them later today. Basically, I told them that I was installing a bigger HD, and that I paid for the Quickplay software and should be able to restore it if needed. Its not like its a freebie that they just give to you. We all paid for it and its an advertised feature of the notebook. I'll keep everyone updated...

Chuck - I've owned quite a few Mustangs. 93 Cobra, 95 Cobra, 98 Cobra vert, 01 Cobra, and then my last was a 03 Mach 1.

419025-001 , Recovery disc set - Includes recovery DVD (Windows XP Pro SP2), QuickPla y direct service CD, Microsoft Money, Microsoft Encarta, and Microsoft W orks CD

That's my part number. Ya this really sucks...I bought the $45 one (it has os and apps) and it said may 12th for arrival and I checked back today and it says 8th OF JUNE! Those assholes are definitely getting a call back from me. I'm really starting to lose my pacience.

SVT- Cool

That's weird. Maybe HP wont release a QPv2 Installation CD right now, maybe they want it to be a few months old. That's what WeAreNotAlone said.

Anyway, I wish both of you luck.

411451-B22 75.00 Software : Software application CD - HP Quickplay restore

ETA 8th of June now?...

I guess next time I buy a laptop I shouldn't have to pay for it for two-three months after it's delivered.

I know on hot selling items there are delays... but June 8th for a cd that should have been in the box?

Seems like people around the world aren't happy with all this either: http://h50163.www5.hp.com/TCForum/We...08adcac5c58#T1

HP, people that are tech savy want the install discs.

Getting QP to work after install of new OS

I recently bought a HP dv5113eu XP Home edition. As wanted to use my XP Pro I copied the SWSETUP folder to an external HD and did a fresh partitioning, without deleting the 1 Gb partition for QP.

I installed Win XP and subsequently installed the relevant drivers and the bloatware I wanted including QP.

Problem is that QP is not starting up in non OS mode, which I can understand now I've learned that it's working in a kind of dualboot way (Linux/XP)

Question is: Is there a way working around this?

I just read from the HP's user forum in Taiwan about the installation of QuickPlay 2.0 posted a few weeks ago. It said you cannot have more than one Windows partition before installing QP2.0 from the CD. If you have a second partition before the 1GB space reserved for QP2.0, you need to remove that partition and leave it as unused space until after QP2.0 installation. Read here if you know chinese.
