HP's QuickPlay v2.0 - Page 10

Yea, that's what I got out of it too.Read here if you know chinese.

Here's the sort of English translation in case the link goes down.:=-)

Good news it appears is HP indeed has 2.0 install discs. (I ordered mine about two hours ago, ETA the 17th)

Yesterday (4/20) received HP finally sent QuickPlay 2.0 installation CDs (CD-ROM, with no installation on attention matters), I thought finally allow the dv1619 play 100% of the functions that are happy to use immediately on the installation, results. . . . Originally there too !!! D disks full of important data but have not installed !!!QuickPlay successful !!! then immediately call to the HP Kefu (of course transferred to the mainland or to! ) They also began a hard ramble that already have identification attached, asking me to use Recovery manner, and then I called the repair center to Taiwan to install (two weeks ago I had a call to HP Taipei maintenance center asked They do not provide installation services QuickPlay) finally asked me to leave contact telephone inquiries after me. After an hour, HP Kefu phone told me that I must install QuickPlay HP senior engineer, hard disk only to the existence of C worse, the other not cutting, QuickPlay final cutting 1GB hard disk to automatically in the Partion for QuickPlay. Days 啊!!! so stupid that I have in the software 啊!!! final reserve 1GB of hard disk Partion used to it, since not use! Also (the hard disk installation before cutting : C disk 15GB for system use, the D disks 77GB important data storage, 1GB unknown magnetic District) Fortunately I have always done backup habits (C disks used Ghost2003,D disk backup hard disk external hard disks), otherwise it is really all ruined !!! Now I finally understand why the HP 38S identification, not driven by any of the procedures or software CDs !!! because if driven by a CD-ROM or related software, HP have prepared complete installation specification (this specification requires considerable experience of the technical staff to write out) So HP on lazy approach to Recovery, CD-ROMs and brochures that can be saved for the time and cost! HP never thought that the decision-making while saving time and cost, but it has more users complain, and the technical training of personnel exposed HP Kefu inadequate !!! I think HP should we pay these bonuses to make the users, because we spent a lot of time in testing and help HP do Chucuo (poor white rats) !!! Finally to remind that wish to use the installation CD QuickPlay 2.0, you must first be D disks subsequent backup important data first, then delete all Partion (except C disks) and then install 哦!!! Ps. Manager of the month with the bitter experience of hard test, I can finally 100% dv1619 function of !!!

In the setup folder there are (2) folders with references to QuickPlay

QLB
QPW

I would think these programs "re-key" QuickPlay after a install.

Just out of curiosity, do we live in a world where no one can ****in read. Sorry for the language it just pisses me off when people post something like is there any way I can get qp2 to work if all they have to do is read ONE post to find out that there currently isn't a way to get it to work.

I understand where you're coming from.. but in clriis's case he didn't delete the QP partition so I think he may be able to use the files in the C:SWSetup folder I referenced to re-enable /fix his QP.

QP does show up in the list of ADD/REMOVE programs, so I would think HP would be smart enough to have a way for someone to gain back the program if they used the add/remove function... assuming they didn't delete the QP partition.

Here's a better example of someone asking, without reading up a couple of posts. The poster asking where he/she could he obtain a copy when no-one here has gotten a copy yet, knows of any links on other boards.:

billcsho - sharp eye on finding this info. It indeed confirms that there is a 2.0 install disc, and QP 2.0 can be re-installed, just like v1.2 can. This morning ordered for a dv8000t CTO part number:
411451-B22 Software application CD - HP Quickplay restore .

ETA 17th, May.

Here's how you install QuickPlay 2.0

Hi Evan : Only in the use of CD-ROM installation will need to install QuickPlay2.0 do so. Assuming that you do have QuickPlay installation discs, hard disks have been cut C and D, Also hope to avoid entering XP, in turn, directly activate QuickPlay :
1, first put D disk drives, hard disk data backup to external hard disks or CD-ROM 1450
2, the use of XP's disk management tools will be deleted partition D
3, D after partition if there are female also be deleted
4, a CD-ROM installed QuickPlay installed QuickPlay (about 2~5 minutes)
5,QuickPlay automatically without cutting the Partition final cutting out 1GB of space to QuickPlay use unknown
6, C and 1GB partition will be established between the unknown space and be retrieved Partition D
7, the original back-up copies of data back to the D disks.
8 complete (QuickPlay remote devices or use the keyboard the most part QuickPlay button test) Ps. Bear in mind we will do the data backup D disks!

Disc-free. Just talked to the right person. Explained that I needed the disc to be able to re-install QP. (as in the case of a total hd wipe, new hd install)

When into sort of what I've talked about here... that it is a special program that came pre-installed.

I went into how without the disc if you're installing a custom XP install you're going to need the disc. That the program is not on HP's site for download..., Nor is in the C:\SwSetup folder (AFAIK)

Sort of made a joke about it, but was serious that I did notice that HP has NO problem getting an AOL disc in the box...

I also relayed to the guy I was talking to that previous owners of QP v1.2 machines were shipped a disc with the machine. That for the money they're charging they should provide the disc(s), of not only QP, but the OS as well.

BTW: On someone who may be able to speak/write Chinese....

You REALLY need to look into that as I think there are going to be "delays" in these discs being shipped out. At the very least we've looking at another month+ of waiting.... More than likely two.

I can actually read Chinese and I have already posted a brief instruction above. It seems Werenotalone is using a poor translation program. For those who are curious about the real meaning of the chinese in the installation procedure, here I translated it manually:

Only when using the QuickPlay2.0 installation CD requires the procedure below. I assume you have the QuickPlay installation CD handy, the hard drive has been divided into C and D partitions, and would like to launch QuickPlay without entering XP:
1. Back up drive D onto external drive or optical disk;
2. Use the disk management tools in XP to remove partition D;
3. Remove other partitions after D, if any;
4. Use the QuickPlay installation CD to install QuickPlay (takes 2-5minutes)
5. QuickPlay will automatically divide a 1GB "unknown space" for the use of QuickPlay at the end of the unpartitioned space.
6. Create partition D again in the space between partition C and the "unknown space" and have it formatted.
7. Restore the partition D from backup drive or disk.
8. Finish (Test the QuickPlay function with the QuickPlay buttons on the media remote control or on top of the keyboard).
ps. Don't forget to back up the files on partition D first!

Google translation tools...

So now we have the install instructions.... but no disc.

Any chance you guys that can read/ write Chinese could maybe sweet talk one of the guys that does have the disc into uploading it somewhere so we don't have to wait another month or two?

PS: Thanks for the instructions...

Can you expand on that a little? In a previous post you said you knew a senior tech....

As for the QuickPlay software, I will try to do this.
I know a technician who works at the HP Service Centre and he has help me a lot concerning my Compaq notebook, providing me advice and software for me to use. I can try and ask him if he has a copy of the HP QuickPlay software available. Do not bring your hopes up though because he is quite busy as he is the senior technician and I'm not exactly free. I let you know what happens.

If you've read this thread then you would have known why I haven't been able to get it yet. Until I receive my notebook, I can't go to the Service Centre and try to retrieve the disk if there is one. I might get it soon though as I have to send my notebook in for some repairs.

Despite of this software working for only the dv series (as HP would say so), I have myself a zd8320 notebook. I am trying to get an image of QPv2. I hope I will know more tomorrow..
I don't know if it can work with the zd series, nothing is clear about this, so it probably won't.
So, maybe I hope I can make others (you) more happy with it.
Even for DV4000, there is a BIOS update involved. I doubt if the ZD8320 will have a comparable update for the BIOS. Good luck.
