Hi there, are you there?
I followed your instructions. I removed the second hard drive from the lappy. Now I only have one partition and enough unpartitioned space... But I got the same error message:
ComponentMoveData Error Information
ComponentMoveData had the following error:
component: Quickplay Component
Error number: -2147418113
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Ivan

Ivan... first of all, please post your concerns in the open forum instead of PM'ing me. Posting here will take the same amount of my time, and the info is more likely to help others with the same problem.
The only time you'd really want to PM someone was if you were asking for something that was not allowed to be posted in the open forum.

Ivan, are you saying you were getting error -2147418113 when you tried running the installer with both disc's installed, and are getting the message with only (1) hd installed as well?

That you do have free space at the end of the drive?(How much space did you leave) If so the only thing I could suggest is making sure no processes are running in the background (CTRL, ALT, DELETE)...

Barring that I'm thinking that the drive has been tattooed... that the second drive has to be installed...

Wonder what HP says on dual drive set-ups?

I'm currently running a single drive... I shut down ALL processes running in the background and it installed smooth as silk.

Another idea would be to do a check on your hard drive for errors via the bios...
Well, yes, it shooted the same error message: before removing the second hard disk and after removing it.

Now I've got one 100gb hard disk with 50gb of unpartitioned space. I was checking the partition status with partition magic and I realized that the 50gb of unpartitioned space is enclosed with the primary extended partition. should I remove that extended partition? is that anything to do with that?
I have not installed the QP2.0 yet. But if it is like in QP1.x, the unpartitioned space for QP installation cannot be in any partition. The QP will be in its own primary "unknown" partition.
By the way, I don't think having the second drive in would be a problem, but it would be nice if you can test it with both configuration.
Well, yes, after a few tries, I finally got QP installed... As you said, I have to remove the extended partition that enclosed the unpartitioned space and then the installer went fine. I think that would be it.
Thanks for the support. This forum support was 100 times better than the goddamn HP support. thank you all.

Quickplay v2.0 download

Just tried to download Quickplay v2.0 - link is dead. I'm I doing something wrong or is the 14 day timelimit less. I have a DV5163cl and removed the recovery partition, sub Media Center for XP Pro, then increased the XP partition, and as all are aware lost the QuickPlay button (startup). Would really appreciate the capability to download the QP-v2.

Thanks Much in advance !!!

Got one question...
I finally installed quickplay 2 but I'm a little concern, so I would like to know if you see what I see when I hit one of the quickplay buttons when lappy (dv8000t) is turned off:

1. hp bios screen.
2. Windows XP pro boot screen (without initializing windows session, just screen)
3. quickplay application.

then, when I hit the power button to turn pc off (currently quickplay started), it launches the hibernating screen (with progress bar indicator), and then it shuts down.

I would like to know if that's the way quickplay works, because I thought any windows xp screen may show before quickplay starts. And the hibernating process, I don't know why it runs before shutting pc down.

Did I installed correctly? is that the way it is?

thanks, Ivan.

Yep.. that's how mine works...

PS: Glad you got it installed... So to recap in case someone missed it... When trying to install QuickPlay V 2.0 on a dv8000t with dual drives you were getting a install error code -2147418113.... Even after you removed the secondary drive .... Even though you had Free space..... But that free space was inside a logical partition...

Since QuickPlay has to be installed to a primary partition, installer freaked out... (BTW: I wonder if HP has a listing of "codes".. 2147418113=Installing to free space inside a logical /extended partition.

Fix was to remove or re-size the extended (logical) partition to allow totally free, unpartitioned space at the end of the drive.... Then run the QP v2.0 installer...

I wonder, anyone of you have installed QPv2 on a dv4000???

Please, I need help, 'cause I can't install QPv2.

Hi there,

Well, so now I can enjoy quickplay. I asked that because I understand that quickplay v1 does not show windows xp boot screen neither quickplay initializes nor it shuts down, but if qp v2 does, I don't have any problem with that, because it's now working properly. Just curious, no more.

What I'm wondering is if the files located in the c:/swsetup
will re-install this program.

It may be a case that those files ONLY re-install quickplay v2.0 to a machine that at one time had 2.0 running on it and has had a fresh OS install being done, the Linux partition containing the bulk of the program not getting deleted during the XP install.

I would think the work around if you wanted to transfer the program to another hard drive would be to mirror /ghost the linux partition, then run the installer so it will re-register the program so windows will "see it".

BTW: to be on the safe side I'm making a copy of the registry entries and the program files themselves.
WeAreNotAlone: Could you please send me those files??? Please!!!

Anyone, please help me and send me the QPv2 related files that are located in the c:/swsetup folder. Thanks!!!

That's exactly it. This is how Disk Management should look, you should have 1GB of free, unpartitioned space at the end of your drive--whatever you do do not assign a drive letter to the free space or you'll run into that 2147418113 error!

Once again, all of you are awesome, especially SVTSnake for hosting the file. Thanks!

There are two folders in the C:\SWSetup folder that reference QuickPlay.

One is QLB:

SP31934-Quick Launch Buttons-
(Search under dv8000t for
Service packs on the HP site...)

Other is:
QPW

On the QPW...

To anyone that has QP 2.0 up and running, that has accces to the 411451-B22 disc...

To see what QPW does.... Go thru the add/remove function in XP, remove QP 2.0. I think this should leave the QP partition INTACT.... That removing QP via Windows just removes it from windows and this QPW "re-keys" /re-installs pointers so Windows can see it again.

Someone please confirm. I think that QPW does not re-create a deleted or damaged QP v2.0 partition... that is what 411451-B22 does for certain select models.

Here's the contents of the C:\SwSetup\QPW folder:

You need both parts for Quickplay 2.0 to work properly. The applications disk only restores Quickplay to be able to boot without going into the OS. The files in the SWSETUP folder allow Quickplay to be played within Windows.

If you don't install /SWSETUP/QPW, you won't have Quickplay functionality within the OS.
The QLB is not part of the QuickPlay, but it may be a pre-requisite to call certain function of QP. It is totally independent of QP in 1.x version. The current version of QLB should be 5.20G.
By the way, I have problem in opening the link to the \SWSETUP\QPW content posted above. Does anybody have similar problem?
Thanks.

Link works fine, turn on your java scripting... when opening link it should say please wait 45 seconds.. then do a countdown ... at about 5-6 seconds a box will pop up that covers the "Click Here to Download" link... Move box to side, or dismiss box,,,, Then click the "Click Here to Download" link... (Upper right hand side of page) Click it, then save...... While downloading don't close the megaupload page, otherwise I think the download will abort.
