Glad it worked.

PS: How about taking a moment next time you're "logged" in and clicking the little icon on the LEFT hand side of the page under my user name that says "Add to WeAreNotAlone's Reputation".

1GB RAM capacity of your RAM in your system

Should be the speed of the bus.. Ram isn't going to run that fast... fastest ram out right now is 667

Based on what I've read, and my limited attempt to install on a DV1000, I beleve the answer is NO.

A few pages back, someone - perhaps WeAreNotAlone - hinted that the s/w checks for a legitate machine before it installs. I tried, using the dl'd QP2 CD and just get the popup box stating:

"QuickPlaycan only be Installed in QuickPlay-enabled mechine."

spelling is exact!

There must be something in the Installshield script that is checking the machine type against a legit list. I'lll see if I can find anything.

I checked this 981MHz again in some computers in my company that has AMD processor and W XP Home OS turned out that something is mistery with this speed ?? Because evertime I checked it , it was not same, it s changing !! it is a bug in Windows property screen ?? I am not sure now..

Uhh, where to start ... I think I almost understand what Intel was up to when they tried to start downplaying cpu speeds.

Current processors / processor management (ACPI) dynamically alter the cpu speed all the time. No need in heating up the notebook to 3Ghz just to surf the web, eh? Anyways, look at the Microsoft Explanation and other methods you can take to determine the true speed.

Here's some info on the Intel Duo Core CPU's... Lost of good info...

I get the same message on my QPv1 enabled dv4000.

AmigaDude: Please post if you find any solution. Thanks!

Yeah, I kinda guessed that. Anywho, here is what I "think" I know so far from disassembling things.

InstallShield script opens

HPDUtil.DLL, then calls function GETQPFLAG within there and expects a return code of 0x3. Anything else and that error message is given.
HPDUtil.DLL is a little more complex, and it might take awhile to figure just what it's looking at. Although, I could get lucky and there is an obscure reference to this registry key : "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C&REV_02\3&13C0B0C5&0&A5", though it might have nothing to do with anything.. Hmm, that should be an ATI key so I wonder what they want with that?

QP2.0 was implemented on DV4000 series right about the same time that they removed ATI x700 option. I wonder if the ATI x700 is not compatible with QP2.0. Did anyone with a non-x700 DV4000 try to install the QP2.0?

I think it's the other way around, but probably not important. BTW, I'm using a DV1000 with the embedded Intel video.

Update: I was able to coax the Install script around whatever HPDUtil.DLL is checking for, and it completed the CD install. As I watched the install messages scroll by, it kept referencing miscellaneous ATI stuff so I'm guessing they must have assisted Cyberlink in QP2?

Anyways, the install finished and it took the 5gb i had at end of my disk and carved out a 1GB partition at the very end. Just as everyone says it's supposed to. However, if I push the DVD (or Music) play buttons to start the machine it never boots into Quickplay. Instead, I briefly get a HP QuickPlay logo then it reverts to the normal windows boot.

I'll keep looking into it and let you know if anything changes. Oh yes, the Windows QP s/w that was posted earlier has the same check, for whatever they are checking, but I've not bothered to worry about that yet.

Are you talking about the files that are located at the c:\swsetup folder??? Maybe you need to install those files in order to be able to use QPv2. Maybe that's why it is booting into Win instead of QP.

AmigaDude...

Sounds like you're making progress on it....

While I have no "need"... I'm sure others would be deeply appreciative if you can fiqure it out so keep on working on it!

Thanks for the support. This forum support was 100 times better than the goddamn HP support. thank you all.

Ivan.
I receive the same error message 15% through the installation:
ComponentMoveData Error Information
ComponentMoveData had the following error:
component: Quickplay Component
Error number: -2147418113

Removed the extended partition - c: and unallocated 1gb and still get the error. Any ideas how to fix this?

I downloaded the Quickplay v2.0 CD Image at:
http://www.notebookforums.com/thread141817-16.html

Just tried testing it out and i get an error from the MS Installer which states:
"QuickPlay can only be installed inQuickPlay-enabled machine"
(actually, the message states, with improper spelling: "QuickPlaycan only be Installed inQuickPlay-enabled mechine")

Has anyone had any luck yet in installing Quickplay 2.0 on an old dv1000, and actually getting it to work? If so, please post a reply with info.

Thanks for the help!

~Rasta

(PS-I am using dv1156cl, Bios F22)

Btw...i was at Costco the other day, and saw on display a dv1600 series machine (I believe DV1657cl), and actually SAW WITH MY OWN EYES that QP 2.0 would launch when the DVD/Menu button was pressed.

Also, FYI--there is also a similar discussion for Quickplay 2.0 on DV1000 laptops at:

Hmmm...I have a DV5000 Laptop, and im getting an "Hal.dll is missing/corrupt" error message when it tries to boot into QP from a cold boot. However, Windows XP SP2 loads fine without any problems.

This is what system looks like:

Any Ideas as to why im getting the hal.dll error?

Just reinstalled QP2, and it seems to have solved the problem. Must of been one screwed up initial installation to cause such an error.

Hi. I bought a DV5118 with 100 GB and made a BIG mistake of loading XP pro after formatting the disk. Now QP is all gone. I have made 3 partitions (C,D and E) for OS/programs, data and Backup. Can anyone tell me whether if I reduce the partition size of E : by 1 GB with Partition magic, can I install QP2? Or should I format the whole disk and redo from scratch. I have a whole lot of data and programs to backup!

Also is QP2 still available anywhere for download?
