HP's QuickPlay v2.0 - Page 17

Hi.I purchased an HP DV5130CA at best buy.I made the recovery cds and blew away the partitions. When i tried to restore my notebook it would get stuck on the 3 disc and give an error " cannot find some file....".Called Hp tech support and the promptly fed-exed me 3 discs one of them happens to be QP 2.0 application restore cd.
All the disc installations went well except the QP 2.0.It would give a component error (stated in this forum).HP tech support was of no help. All they could say was that the CD is defective yada yada yada.I tried all the above mentioned steps and I am still not able to install QP2.0(The cd does not boot. The installation from within windows gives the component error)
I tried QP 1.0 which runs upto 65pc and then gives installation error.I have done the standard stuff like ...1gb partition etc.No go.
Has anyone tried to install a fresh copy of Windows XP and QP2.0.I will be grateful if steps for reinstalling XP and QP2.0 can be posted on this forums.
I am also willing to upload an image of QP 2.0 I received.

Thanks for all your help in advance

This is a repost from a PM I just sent another member... Hope it helps:
* * * * * * *

2: Installing QP 2.xxx, Only (1) primary partition can be on the drive. From what I've read the QP 2.xxx installer is NOT smart enough to install if there are ANY other partitons on the drive.

(I deleted the recovery partition right off the bat so I can't comment it that counts as one, I would assume you nuked that as well :-)

C: OS
D: APPS
E: DATA

Yep that's the way to do a drive, but QP won't install unless you DELETE D, and E

The only partion being C... with FREE space after it... QP taking up 1048mb if memory serves me correctly.

Backup D,E, Delete D, E, install QP, then copy D, E back.

That being said... you "might" be able to mark D. E "hidden" then try installing QP... If that works be sure to A: Tell people I told you so.. and B: Post in the below link the details!

PS: I'd try leaving about 3 gig FREE space at END of Drive, let the installer create the QP partition. I noticed as shipped that my drive had some space that was not partitioned, assigned.

Hi WeAreNotAlone,

Thanks a lot for your help.

After I was successful,I logged on just to see if anyone replied to my post. And there was the answer. What I did was very similar to what you posted.

1.Booted from Hp Windows MCE cd
2.Set up 2 partitions
C:\.......(HDD capacity - 1024 )MB
D:\ 1024 MB

3.Dont format D:\(Leave it as it is). Both partitions will show up as RAW after partitions are created.Only format C:\

4.After Xp(Mine was MCE) is installed, Install drivers and make sure the Hp Quickplay/DVD app is also installed. The Hp quickplay 2.0 cd will search for this.Use the HP quickplay App cd from within windows to install.
The HP Quickplay 2.0 app on the CD is different from the quickplay on the app recovery cd.I received the following cds(MCE OS DVD/App and Driver recovery DVD/HP Quickplay 2.0 app restore CD)

5.Lo and behold Quickplay installed successfully.

6.Used partition magic to create a 2nd partition.

7.Tested Quickplay again.Quickplay works Hurrah !!!!

If anyone needs QP 2.0 please post your request.I will probably upload it at megauploads.com

Thanks one and all and I doff my hat off to Wearenotalone !!!!!!

I would love to have the QPv2 files that are in the Apps Recovery CD, not the QPv2 CD. Please! Upload those files!

Other is:
QPW

On the QPW...

To anyone that has QP 2.0 up and running, that has accces to the 411451-B22 disc...

To see what QPW does.... Go thru the add/remove function in XP, remove QP 2.0. I think this should leave the QP partition INTACT.... That removing QP via Windows just removes it from windows and this QPW "re-keys" /re-installs pointers so Windows can see it again.

Someone please confirm. I think that QPW does not re-create a deleted or damaged QP v2.0 partition... that is what 411451-B22 does for certain select models.

Here's the contents of the C:\SwSetup\QPW folder:

OK Eriko,

I have uploaded the files here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=77K1YBL9

Like I said these are taken off the (I have a scan of the cd label but I dont know how to insert a pic here) application and driver recovery DVD.

There was a folder in the dvd called QPW which has the program in it.

All the best as you try and get your Quick play feature to work

Only meant for HP products. Addtionally it will only work on certain models as the installer looks for the approved model/bios ? id string before it will install.

AmigaDude seemed to be making some progress on dissectingthe installer but we haven't hear from him in a few days. (Since 6-16-2006)

yyzrush,

Glad to hear you're up and running....

For some reason Mega is not working this morning, click the link, one of the pop up pages appears with the continue to Mega link, then the page rolls over, with the download box saying "download with Premium".... and just "sits" there. Tried several differant browsers... File description is there, etc.

(I've used Mega before, On one of the browsers I was using it said the page had a script error... May be a case that the servers are overloaded)

What's the part number on the QP cd in the link?
Other link.... 33.61mb "Quick Play Files on the app recovery DVD" is coming up just fine....

Guess Mega is having problems right now.... have run across the same thing on RapidShare, links work just fine until the image with the code is supposed to appear and sometimes that image just won't come up... with no code you can't start the download..
