Got a link, can you up them somewhere?
I got it after finally seeing these new HP laptops in Australia. Took my USB Pen drive, and just copied the files. I'll upload them possibly on Monday. (I'm on 56k, so I'll have to use my Uni's T3 connection to upload the files)

For those hoping to update their version 2.0 to 2.1 well........ you can and you can't ! it will update the windows side of QP but not the hidden partition part so you get 2.1 when activated from windows and 2.0 when using the media keys.

Worst.... if you do the update the cyberlink freebees like Theater now becomes a pay for use update $USD15.00

So I'd say better to stay with 2.0..... 2.1 does not appear to offer much new other than a second skin (orange) and a windows flag to return to desktop..

Hooray for Acronis !

Um...what I have uploaded was for Windows, and not for the cold boot to QP.

I'm not familiar with the V3000, but a couple of suggestions for you:

1) Update to the latest Bios, if you don't already have it.
2) Try hitting the Power button THEN hit the Media button to see if that works.

Where did you get the Quickplay 2.1 s/w and did you install the Direct version or the Windows version?

...

QuickPlay 2.1 was there in the HDD. I dont know if its direct or windows...like it has size of about 39 MB. I got my V3000 this 3rd of july..so I think my bios is the latest one. I tried pressing the media button after pressing the power button...but nothing...it straight goes on to XP. HELP !!!!

Ericko,
My case is kind of like yours. I have dual boot installed in 2 partitions for XP Home and XP Pro. I have most stuffs installed in the original XP Home but it has some minor problem. The XP Pro partition works fine but I don't have enough room to install more applications. I know one day I'll completely wipe off the drive and install the OS from scratch but I don't have time to do it yet. I have just too many frequently used applications installed and my Start menu has spreaded into the 4th columns already. I guess I am going to do that in Christmas or when it crashes, whichever come first. Until then, I probably won't be able to try QP2.0.

39mb is the windows part, I think this is used if you delete the QP app from windows. I'm thinking that deleting the QP app thru windows does NOT delete the QP partition itself, only references to it in Windows.

The 2.0 disc used to install QP to a hard drive that has been totally wiped is like 458mb +/-

After I was successful,I logged on just to see if anyone replied to my post. And there was the answer. What I did was very similar to what you posted.

1.Booted from Hp Windows MCE cd
2.Set up 2 partitions
C:\.......(HDD capacity - 1024 )MB
D:\ 1024 MB

3.Dont format D:\(Leave it as it is). Both partitions will show up as RAW after partitions are created.Only format C:\

4.After Xp(Mine was MCE) is installed, Install drivers and make sure the Hp Quickplay/DVD app is also installed. The Hp quickplay 2.0 cd will search for this.Use the HP quickplay App cd from within windows to install.
The HP Quickplay 2.0 app on the CD is different from the quickplay on the app recovery cd.I received the following cds(MCE OS DVD/App and Driver recovery DVD/HP Quickplay 2.0 app restore CD)

5.Lo and behold Quickplay installed successfully.

6.Used partition magic to create a 2nd partition.

7.Tested Quickplay again.Quickplay works Hurrah !!!!

If anyone needs QP 2.0 please post your request.I will probably upload it at megauploads.com

Thanks one and all and I doff my hat off to Wearenotalone !!!!!!
Hi, I was wondering if you could be more specific on the applications (their names) one need to install prior to installing from the QuickPlay 2.0 CD. I have read every page in this topic but still worry I might do it wrong. Page 19's picture of Disk Management is similar to mine. I have dled the HP QuickPlay 2.0 and burnt the image using nero. For the applications I need to install before installing QuickPlay 2.0 CD is... Thank you so much, any reply would be great appreciated.

Things to keep in mind:
2.0 install cd is like 458mb, not 39mb

Specific apps to install BEFORE QP?.... NONE.... reformat the drive, leave at least 1024 /1048 depending on who you talk with at the END of the drive as FREE, unformated SPACE..... FREE space,, not free space within say a logical partition..... To be safe, left about 1.5 gig....

Then install OS. After you get the OS booting /installed, shut down any apps running in the background that may be running, stick the CD in the drive and install QP and you should be done.

The QP installer will re-create the QP partition.... If you want I guess you could leave it also and I would think it would re-install to the same place. I totally wiped my HD.

Thank you very much WeAreNotAlone. yyzrush stated in step four of his directions, HP QuickPlay 2.0 CD will look for these applications. Do you know which applications he is referring to?

Step #4

Make a backup copy of the C:\SwSetup folder... in I think the QPW folder are some files about 39mb that I think are used to to "restore" the QP app itself if it has been deleted thru the add/remove "apps" panel in control panel.

39mb is the windows part, I think this is used if you delete the QP app from windows. I'm thinking that deleting the QP app thru windows does NOT delete the QP partition itself, only references to it in Windows.

If you have the FULL QP install CD (458mb)+/- It should have EVERYTHING you need.

One more thing, your machine has to be on the "list' that the QP installer will be looking for before it installs.
Yes, my laptop should definitely be on that list. It's a dv2000t from the Office Depot deal.

Go back a few pages , get the part number that was listed , go to http://www.partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main to see if it's listed.

I'm thinking that maybe the dv2000t came with QP 2.1? and that it might not be on the "list" the installer is looking for.

If you have the OS up already you should be able to just stick the cd in and install assuming you have FREE space at the end of the drive.
Part No.: 411451-B22 on Page 12. Yes, I believe mine came with 2.1 because dv2000t isn't listed.
