HP's QuickPlay v2.0 - Page 40

Yeah I have the same card on my dv2120. I had a problem when i used the Windows Update Driver. Things work one when I use the HP Update driver. But that's with vista. I haven't tried QP on XP.

I don't know if this would help but here is a guide that I made some time ago for HP QuickPlay 2.3, which also lists how you should set up your notebook format and audio issues. To my knowledge, newer dv2000, dv6000 and dv9000 uses a newer codec compared to the old ones. Again, I will see what I can find out about this as I have been meaning to update my guide to include Windows Vista. Unfortunately, I do not have Vista just yet but I will see what I can do. Also, the dv1000 does not support QuickPlay 2.0 but if I'm not mistaken AmigaDude was trying to get it to work. Again, I'm unsure of that.

Oh i got my stuff to work. Apparently QPD will not boot up if you have more than one other partitions when working with vista.

I'm running a machine from the dv1000 series (dv1680us) that has thus far run every version of QPW from 2.0 to 3.0 and QPD from 1.2 to 2.3. I've yet to have any problems installing it, except when I was dual-booting Ubuntu and Vista. No surprise there, though; I should have guessed that QP wouldn't properly modify the GRUB loader...

It will work with more than one actually; I'm not sure what kind of beef it had with your other partition but I ran with two partitions with no problems. In theory I think the Quickplay partition could be no more than the fourth partition on the drive.

I unfortunately cannot vouch for its compatibility with your v3000.

A few v3000s are listed on HP's site as having BIOS updates available, with new ones as recent as last month. Is your BIOS up to date?
megaupload seems to have a problem here in malaysia. i am think of trying with amigadude steps, but i dont have the proper quickplay 1.2 installation cd. other files i already have, like the 1.3 patch, 2.3 cd

p/s: i'm not using v3000, but dv1000 series can somebody help me tp upload qp v 1.2 installer

amigadude's solution :

What you need:

1. DV1000 (of course) with WinXP CD
2. Quickplay 1.20 CD ( can be downloaded above )
3. Quickplay 1.30 patch ( can be downloaded from HP )
4. Quickplay 2.3 Files ( can be downloaded above )
5. Hardisk formatted with only 1 Partition C: of WinXP (Pro or Home) and at least 1.30 GB free space

What you do:

1. Get WinXP Installed, patched, etc.. to your liking and take a BACKUP
2. Boot from Quickplay 1.2 CD and install Quickplay
3. Boot WinXP and Install Quickplay 1.30 Patch
4. Install Registry Update - ( see below )
5. Install Quickplay/Windows 2.30 ( QPW\Setup.exe )
6. Install Quickplay/Direct 2.30 ( HPQPDP\Setup.exe )
7. Reboot as requested to Auto-complete Quickplay 2.30 setup
8. Will autoreboot back to Windows, so Shutdown Notebook

Testing QP (From power off):

QP1.30 - Hit any Media key and QP1.30 should start
QP2.30 - Hit the Power key, pause 1/2 second then any Media key and QP2.3 should start

Install QP Registry Update by creating a text file and putting these lines into it:
Code:

REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag] "QPFlag"=dword:00000003 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag] "QPPlatform"="DV1000"

Save the file as something.reg, i.e. QPFlag.Reg
Right-click on the file and select MERGE

OR

Install the entries manually using Regedit (upper/lower case is important)

im talking about vista. could u give me the exact version of the driver you used, and the version of qp direct and qpw.

thanks!

Sam, just run HP Update and install the driver that shows up. Keep in mind that when you install the driver from HP Update, Windows Update will tell you it's out of date. I'm using 4.8.0.0 from 11/2006. The newer one from Windows Update screws everyting up.
Oh and I'm using QPW3.0

I'll try to mount the image I made of my XP partition before I blew it away - this will be the only place I'll have the QP 1.2 image file. If I find it I will PM you a link.

EDIT: Rather than go through all that trouble I'm grabbing it from the Megaupload link for you. I will let you know via PM; please do not distribute the link as it will be to my personal web server.

Quick note, the Regedit lines MUST be split into five distinct lines like this:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag]
"QPFlag"=dword:00000003
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag]
"QPPlatform"="DV1000"
