How Would I Custom Paint My Alienware Notebook?

Thread Starter
Hey, the paint is coming off of my Alienware Area-51m 5620.I was wondering after i take it apart and tape everything off, how i would paint it and what paint should i use for the best quality. This will be my real first paint job so a tutorial format would be best with details on paint. Possitive rep will always be given for help

This is the lappy now:

Thanks,Matt

For the palm rest (if u read the other post on here about that) seems to be just buildup of sweat, grease etc. from ur hand, and not fadeing paint as we all thought. I dont know who, but some guy on here noticed that the gunk comes off if u scrub it with some solution, and makes it look like brand new and he posted about it so search for that.

As for the others, unless u take appart the notebook and remove the panels, I would advise against taping things and painting with the notebook intact. you never know where the spray could go and ruin ur machine. And as far as I can tell, u only want to fix those little corners and such that are missing paint, not repainting the whole thing. U can always go to a car parts store and pick up a small touch up paint kit used on car scratches and try to fill in those spots to match the rest of the chassis.

If you want to paint it and do a quality job you'll need to dissasemble the entire case. Pull all the parts off you want to paint, clean them up thoroughly, sand the existing paint smooth so there are no rough spots or anything, clean again and then paint. Tape off anything you don't want painted and go to town. You can use any good quality spray can base paint, just make sure you do a good primer/base cout/clear coat if you want it to look nice. Keep in mind you won't be using your laptop for at least a few days until the paint is all cured before you can put it back together.
