I have updated my vid drivers with the Xtreme-G MobileForce 84.25 and just ran 3dmark05 again: 2397 so a bit of an increase still with no over clocking. Speaking of clock speeds now that I could adjust this if I wanted to I can see what the clock speeds are: 350mhz core 700mhz memory.

I've put my max multiplyer back down to 1.020 and it seems to be doing just fine. I got notification that my atheros based wifi card will be on its way this week and also have a audigy2 zs coming as well.

Well I had hoped for the atheros card today but the mail person didn't bring it with her today apparently...erg

I did get the nerve to do the vents I talked about earlier. I got the dremel tool and made 3 slit/vents in panel section that covers the exhaust fan. My ability was less than skillfull but it turned out ok I think. I didn't want to over do it as there are two other sections vented that I still want air to be pulled through. I then sanded down the panel, smoothed out the slits and am in the process of repainting. Nothing special since its on the bottum but I've got a few light coats black gloss on it similiar to what it had just a little more shine.

I should be getting a new digital camera tomorrow and plan on updating my original posts with pics of the unit and specific things I've mentioned.

He updated his review with pictures, in the very first post on this thread. What's so confusing about that?

BTW, TekWarren, those are some great pictures, especially helpful since there are relatively few images of the MS-1032 on the web.

Thanks flanken, your right there really isn't much out there for any of the DIY notebooks hope the info helps those considering it.

gaming update

I've pretty much switched over to just using the MSI 1032 now. Runs like a champ all around and had a few good sessions of WoW on it. Video performance is dang near just as good as the desktop 6600 I have in the desktop rig...only that has 256mb of ram. Didn't seem to hurt this notebook though FPS was awesome after a getting the settings right, not at max settings quit but some are and others I only lowered slightly. The highest I saw temps get was around 70C. I found that if I set notebook hardware control to max performance there would be few or no drops in fps or movement but it got a little warmer. I am able to run with NHC on dynamic switching while in game and this keeps the temps down pretty good. Once and while FPS would drop if I was not doing anything for a few minutes (just standing around) but once back in action all was well and FPS was right back up. I'm very happy with the performance of the system.
